Why does not opening the trims cause the ride to be down all day?
Not opening the trims in the morning before the trains have had a chance to warm up = rollbacks in the spirals. The first few cycles come pretty close to rolling back even with the trims completely open. (Keep in mind this is referring to Gemini not all coasters).

yeah, the gemini is still an all manual rollercoaster so the ride operator has to remember to do all the necessary things to open the ride properly...alot of stuff to remember and 1 mistake can cause a rollback....dont forget to unchain your trains too...another common mistake, Mean Streak, Corkscrew...lots of fun stuff to learn...wiat till you see all the stuff you have to remember at dragster chris...you get an operational if someone has a hat on and you didnt catch it!!!

So im new... I have no idea about how anything works, and im interested in meeting people... What would some one who has NEVER been to Cedar Point need to know?

In case youre wondering- I have been to Six Flags and such, and had heard of Cedar Point. I have a friend who said she was applying, and said she loved the park. So I decided I was going to apply, and enjoy myself.

Still, the question remains- What is stuff I would need to know? Im also interested in housing and such, and prices of stuff like food (if that can be given out)

Well pretty much everything you need to know as far as your job you will learn during your training. It wouldn't be a bad idea for someone who's never been to the park before to browse Cedar Point's official site and learn about the park and its rides, restraurants, shows and stuff like that. If a guest sees you with a uniform on they will assume you know the answer to their question so you have to be prepared to answer almost anything.

You can find a lot of info on housing on this site also. I would recommend not living in Cedars even if it is extremely convenient.

As for food there is an employee cafeteria near the middle/front of the park that is fairly cheap (much cheaper than what guests pay). If you're in the back of the park there is Stockade which is also cheap but has limited selection of food.

If you get a job it will be a long, hot, strenuous summer, but stick it out its definatly worth it (bonus check is nice).

okay... Im just thinking... It really doesnt matter to me what I do, as long as i have a good group to be with. I could last forever doing pretty much anything as long as I can laugh and have fun. Ooh, another question- What are the most sought out jobs? What jobs does everyone want to have?
well, i feel if you like what youre doing it makes the job easier...ive only ever worked in rides so i cant speak on the other positions but i know it takes a certain kind of person to work in rides...not everyone can do it....if you are fun, enthusiastic, determined, and open minded, you should work great in rides, but if you keep your positive attitude about having fun no matter where you are youll have a great summer....i hear that johnny rockets has a great crew, soak city is also fun/challenge park..but rides are the best

I have to agree with you David. Rides is the best and you have to be a certain kind of person to work there

i put rides on my app, so hopefully i get it. Everything you write would descrie me, so well see...
as long as you put rides as your first choice your app should go to park op..hopefully Karrah will get ahold of it so you can be in area 2..not that there is anything wrong with area 1 but you sound like a person who will do good in rides so im in area 2 so well take you!!

Each deparment has positive and negative aspects. I dislike how people try to make some sort of "hierarchy" about the value of certain CP job positions. Every department and job position (and therefore every employee) is essential to the overall success of the park; for example, even if we have the best rides and ride crews in the world, having garbage all over the midways would be enough to make many guests decide not to come back. In my opinion, it takes a special kind of person to realize this and appreciate the contributions that every employee makes. We have seperate departments and jobs, but in reality, we are one huge team.

I totally agree with you Lee, we all work together to make the park work...I am not trying to say that rides are a hierarchy or anything of that matter...They DO however require alot more skills, patience and knowledge than alot of the other positions in the park. It truly does take a special person to work rides SUCCESSFULLY..trust me we get alot of average joes at rides that dont work out because they cant cut it. I cant comment on any other departments because i have never worked anywhere but rides but i am sure that there are people that wouldnt make it in them either..im sure guest relations is a test of patience every day...park services takes some special people too....each department needs good people but the main reason people come to CP is to ride the rides so that is why they are sooo important.

David, I totally agree with you! And I also believe that it takes alot for all of us to work together to make it the best park in the world!!! Every department has their own special part of the park that keeps it operating.

I can agree with all of that... As long as everyone does what they are supposed to, things will work

Or so I hope, lol

I have a million questions. First off, this is my first year here and I am going alone so I am really nervous. Okay, my start date is April 1st,and I am going to be an office clerk in the office behind the Raptor, Jillian interviewed me and thats all I know, I am waiting for my contract in the mail. Most of my confusion is coming from the housing. Am I limited to what the options will be because I start so early? Also, I am wondering the pros/cons and rules of living on and off the point. I don't really care how many roomates I have, but I really hope to get a room with air conditioning in the bedroom. A little concern about the bathrooms of these places too. I had the opportunity to see the commons apartments and wow, no lock on the bathroom no stall door for the toilet and no curtain for the shower. How does that work with so many people? Are there community bathrooms in the dorms? Since I am going by myself, how am I going to be placed with a roomate? A lot of questions, I know but any information would help me a lot. Thanks.
Oh, forgot, I can bring my own air conditioner if I am in a room without it? Whats the restrictions and in what housing can you do that in? Thanks.
At first yes, the buildings open at different times. But even though u already live in like an apartment, say bayside, anytime during the summer you can move to another housing unit. The only place that has A/C in the room is the common's dorms. The bathrooms in the commons dorm most people realize if the door is shut then someone is in there. The dorms do have community bathrooms. You will be placed in a room at random. I'm not to for sure about the rules on A/C.
