Any Questions??

As a seasoned employee at Cedar Point, the greatest amusement park in the world, I want to extend my knowledge and my experiences at CP to any new employees as well as returning employees. I am a supervisor this summer and I am so excited to have this opportunity that so many employees work so hard for each season to achieve. I want all the employees to know that I am here for you, anytime you need to talk about anything at all i will be here...An important part of supervision is listening to your employees and getting to know all of you. I will be more than happy to answer your questions, share my experiences, give you advice, and accept your criticisms as well...the door swings both ways so never be afraid to talk to me. These next few months cant go fast enough..I want this to be the best summer ever, for all of us..i promise you that working at cedar point will change your life forever, even if it is for 1 day, or 6 summers..you will never forget The Amazement Park...Cedar Point!

Whoa, didn't realize I struck a chord there. Sorry about that.

Ok, here's a serious question: Is there a policy regarding Sunglasses? I for have low tolerence for bright light, and wear sunglasses alot. Are you allowed to wear them as you like, or are there rules?

Thanks guys (and gals), I do appreciate you reaching out to help us new folk.

P.S. I am a dude... "Jes" is a short for Jesse!

Whoa.... Someone's a little up tight aren't they.. For goodness sakes Zero-G was just joking, it's not even that deep. I swear I wouldn't want to work with the Raptor Crew if I was a newbie and made a little stupid joke and someone jumped on me about it..

Zero- G, not everyone is so uptight that you can't even make a little joke about the 10:00 lightshow... I personally find it funny that people ask that question.. Just as long as you don't laugh in th Guest's face and just answer their question nicely, you'll be fine.

People need to lighten up and stop taking everything so serious.

"What Ocean is that?"
"Where is the entrance to Cedar Point"

Zero- G to answer your question. I'm not sure if there's an exact rule to sunglasses..but I've seen people who work outside, such as around the park and in soak city, wear them....but one's who work inside such as shops and such are not allowed. Hope that answers your question...if any other returning employee wishes to add and if they know more then me..may do so! ;)

The rule on sunglasses is guest must be able to see your eyes throught the lens. If they are reflective then you can not wear them. Wardrobe does see them if you wanna purchase them. They aren't the nicest thing you have ever seen but they work.

I wonder if I am gonna be on the Discovery Channel soon.

Also, working on Raptor (or any ride for that point), you can wear them in any working position that is not on platform or in controls. So, you can't check seats with them on nor can you work controls. So basically, Freeway and entrance are the only positions you'll be able to wear them. But they are nice for when you go on breaks!

The wardrobe issue sunglasses rank right up there with the BCG's issued by the US Military...

Hey DavidDaily, I have a couple of questions...
How long's the line for the Top Thill Magnum Force?
Where is that Snake Water Canyon?
Why can't I take my 2-week old child down the water slide? He can swim!

Zero-G: Pay no attention to Melinda, she just likes to yell & be loud sometimes (...a lot of the time, ...most of the time) But, as you can probably tell, there are going to be a lot of stupid guest questions, especially when you're at entrance.

You can get almost everything you need to work at CP from wardrobe, but I would *strongly* suggest that you get your own pair of white leater tennis shoes before coming up. -- The ones at wardrobe hurt your feet & tend to fall apart quickly, definitely not worth the money.

P.S -- Hey DavidDailey: "What's that you're puttin' in your hair?"
hey there zero-g....i know you were just being funny, and having fun is a key to having a great summer at cp...believe me to, you will hear that exact same question this summer countless times from guests who are dead serious when they ask you...so remember not to laugh at them, laugh when they walk away..hehe..but anyways sumglasses are great and absolutely necessary at entrance...wardrobe glasses work but are usually dorky..as long as they are non-mirrored lenses you should be fine..the rule is we have to be able to see your eyes....brian is also right no glasses on platform and definitely not in controls...higbie is right too...definitely get a pair of white tennis shoes..mostly white will work..the rule here is as long as the predominate color is white you should be cool..wardrobe shoes are horrible...

DavidDailey, I was actually referring to 1997 Raptor HalloWeekends during open on the speil mic.
Instead of laughing at them in their face you could always give a "I can't believe you said that" look.

Actually I never did that, but what I <b>would<b> do is when people asked kinda ... not so smart questions is smiling at them them. The guests appreciate you joking around with them to a point.

Also, it shows you're enjoying what you're doing when you smile so do it as much as possible... That counts for something, you know? It's harder to have a good time when the workers are there are all serious or bored...

Smiling when talked to, answering everything asked to satisfactory, etc. are great too... You wouldn't believe how many people at other parks, when faced with a question, say "I don't know". (i.e.- Where's the closest water fountain? "I don't know." / Where's the nearest restroom? "I don't know." / Where's your supervisor or head in charge so I can complain about you? "I don't know." / Where's your base of command? Who do you report to? Where does your leaders go every morning to get keys for the rides? "I don't know." / Do you know how to tie your shoes? "No." ... OH *insert fist into face*)
