Any DDR players?

I heard about that... I can't decide what my opinion of that is. I consider cheerleading and dance team to be sports (given that the cheerleaders do athletic gymnastic things such as cartwheels and backflips, not just clap their hands), but I'm not sure about DDR. It *is* an athletic activity, though, and a very good way to lose weight -- super aerobic, and way more fun than going to the gym. You end up "working out" for a couple hours without even realizing that that was essentially what you were doing.

im one of those people that consider cheerleading a sport too... I once tried it, as a joke, and it was a hell of a lot harder than i thought... Playing DDR... I work up just as much of a sweat as when i played Football.... I guess it all depends on whether or not the person is into it... Try playing a string of standard/heavy songs, and tell me that you wont be sweating...

Anyways, it surprised me to find that, and thought i would share... So how do we go about getting a tournament going?

Agreed.

As far as a tournament, I suppose you would just have to get enough people to contact ESD and see if they could arrange something. They come up with all the fun employee events and programs themselves.

Yay Sean... I love you hun! I'm glad that you found some more DDR players. I am going to have to put some practice in and possibly get a teeny bit better.... lets hope...

Just annihilate yourself on a regular basis and you're sure to improve. Off to bed now (I actually played tonight, and I am so tired!!)

What songs do you play?

Well, I can *play* all of them...just not *pass* all of them ^_~ . In general, I play a lot of MAX2 and Extreme (home versions), but have had the opportunity to play many different versions and usually play either DDR or Pump it Up in an arcade once a week somewhere. Just tried the Japanese home versions of MAX and MAX2 last night for the first time which were quite cool... That weird remix of "Over the Rainbow" was a bit strange, though.

I don't usually play songs based on difficulty; usually I'll pick them based on whether I like the song or not. I find that a lot of the time I end up playing the really trance-esque stuff the most, hmm, things like "Look to the Sky," "Ghosts," etc. because for some reason I like the music. I also go for all the J-pop stuff -- for example, "Hot Limit" by TM Revolution, which is a song I loved before I even knew it was in DDR. There is a TON of stuff from Extreme that is great, too...songs from other Bemani games that, it seems, show up in quite a few of them eventually. What songs do you play?

For some reason, when I play MAX2, I always have to play Xenon on Light, even though I do alright with it on Standard. I just like the steps of the Light version more (I play Standard normally).

Try to find an arcade version of DDR Extreme somewhere...it's on that, too.

I play, granted i look like a bafoon doing it but thats half the fun. I just passed Max 300 standard with a B. Wohoo! :)

Anyway, I since my job last year forced me to walk past the machines about 5000 times, I can say that the best time to play is the first few hours the park is open. NOBODY is there. After that, even right up to close time it gets really busy.

Yeah; it seems there is always a huge crowd gathered around watching people on the machines from early afternoon on.

Alright, I get to work with DDR Freaks! Seriously, though, I love DDR... I have Konamix and Max2, and I'll be bringing my PS2 and a soft pad or 2. I agree with Sean, it would be great to get a group together to play every once in a while.
