Any DDR players?

Just wondering, cause its one of my favorite games...

If you do play, how good are you and such? I want to try to get a group together to play occasionally, if possible

Hey Sean, I play the home version and I'm decent, but I think any big fan would kick my butt! Still, I'd be up for a fun game of it, cuz it's always a good time

(Guess i'll have to start practicing now!)

I've been an avid DDR player for over a year now. I was so psyched working at CP last summer because they had DDR machines right there, but the reality was that everytime I was off work early I didn't play. I just wasn't motivated from being on my feet all the time :(. However, days off definitely required a stop over there.

I'm really getting back into it in this winter weather, as I have metal pads in my room here at MSU. I tend to play a lot of songs on maniac nowadays, and I really don't see myself getting much better at this point.

I'd love to get a group together and play throughout the summer, it would definitely be a blast! The only problem is that it's always so crowded over there during the summer...maybe we can find a good time where that wouldn't be the case.

I play tons of Bemani games with regularity. I've been playing DDR since October, and at this point can do five- and six-footers well on Standard with consistency. I can pass almost everything on Standard with a C or better, as well as several songs on Heavy (including a few with an A), but I wouldn't say that I'm anywhere near good at that difficulty level yet. Need more practice!! ^_^

Do you play any other Bemani games or similar music games like Pump it Up? I play PiU quite frequently (am only now starting to play Hard-level songs). I also have, at one point or another, experimented with Beatmania, Keyboardmania, Pop'n Music, Drummania, and Guitar Freaks (it helps when your boyfriend has home versions of all of those ^_~). Out of those last, I like Pop'n Music the best, probably because it's the one I've had the easiest time getting the hang of right from the start.

Cedar Point really should look into getting some of this stuff for their new arcade they're adding next to the indoor waterpark...people would come from out of state *just* to play on an arcade Pop'n Music machine, or so I've heard.

I also love playing DDR. The first time I was really exposed to it was when I worked at Cedar Point last year. It looked so fun to play, and it was amazing to watch people get perfects on 10 footers.

I wanted to play too, but without even playing it before getting on the stage can be pretty bad since there's no chance of doing well for the first couple of tries. This, and the fact of losing a dollar every play was the reason I didn't play all summer.

This fall though, I got the home version for PS2 and a soft pad. I've gotten much better and can complete almost all the songs on standard and a few on heavy.

Of the few times I did play last summer, I'd have to agree that it can be detrimental playing it during off hours, especially if you have to go back to work. Saving your feet from fatigue is a good idea when you are standing up a majority of the day.

Getting those two Extreme machines was probably one of Cedar Point's best investments of last year in terms of ROI. They probably paid for themselves in the first two weeks of their installation.

DDR is awesome. I started playing when the USA homeversion was first released (yeah, that long ago) and I've been playing off and on ever since.

I improved from barely doing a four footer, to doing some six over the summer. I'm no where near good (In my eyes at least), and I don't have a home version, so all my playing was on machines in arcades.

Hopefully I'll be able to get a home version soon and start practicing for the summer.

It will be tough giving up my current job at an arcade where ddr costs only $.25 :)

Heh, that *would* be difficult. Just get yourself the home version of Extreme. It would undoubtedly pay for itself before long. ^_~

That would require another horrible dissection of my ailing PS2. I'll just have to stick with my imports of 3rd and 5th mix (much <3 for 5th mix.)

Hot Limit = a reason that could stand alone why 5th mix rules

Wow, this many people? Cool. And it costs 1.00? :(

I might not be playing as much as i wanted to... (3 songs/ .50) is normal price here where I live. I can do most standard songs, and some heavy, but not many...

usual level- 6 or 7

Scourfish, do you have an AIM sn? Let me know...

Just get a whole group of people with the home version(s) together and invade the Rec Center. I believe there's a decent-sized television in there... If not, one can surely be found that would suffice for a few hours of entertainment.

Forget about Cedar Point Idol -- ESD ought to put on a DDR competition. That would rule.

I like that idea... Im planning on bringing a PSone and Konamix, with pads... or pad... still working on getting it all too... lol
I'll have Konamix, MAX, MAX2 and possibly Extreme (when I get around to ordering it)... See if I can't get a decent copy of 5th mix burned for me eventually either... Should have the stuff to play the home versions of Pop'n Music by then, too.

cool... All i need is a TV there, and ill be set...

I think weve found enough people online, we can train the rest if need be :)

True enough. Or at least get a crowd of confused people looking on in the Rec Center wondering what the heck we are doing. DDR is good for that.
