People, People, People
Trust me Mine Ride will be staying! They are not going to tear it down! I know they would never do that! People it's a classic ride! Besides, don't you guys think they would want to have 17 coasters for 2007 so they can tie with Magic Mountain?
It's just simple physics...

While I don't think CCMR will go, I wouldn't be surprised if it went in that direction, although, I'm not saying it definitely will.

CCMR isn't going anywhere. The entire ride is set in stone footer wise. Just look at the site, if their already putting track down, there not going to dig more footers and let the track just sit there while they wait for the concerte to cure.

Perhaps because they've started the construction so early. If there isn't more to come for this coaster, and by that I mean expansion into another area, then this thing is gonna be done by October.
My god, a construction project done on time and probably on budget! The union workers are going to be pissed! It's been covered many times, they did work earlier because they could. No matter what WWL was going to be gone, that really was the only issue.

I'm pretty sure that the park will not be getting rid of Mine Ride. I also really hope that they do not get rid of Mine Ride. I have a theory that one of the reasons park attendance has been down the last few seasons is that the park has the appearance of getting less family oriented. I think that the park already made a mistake by getting rid of White Water Landing and not replacing it with a new flume ride. Now the park has one less family attraction and only two water rides (both of which absolutely soak you.) Project 2007 looks like fun, but I hope that the park does not lose anymore of its family offerings. I also hope that more family rides will be in the park's near future.
...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!
While you do have a good point, keep in mind that Cedar Point's focus is shifting to cater more towards thrill seekers than just family. Yes, there is Camp Snoopy and some kiddie rides, but in the big picture, CP is more thrills than anything else. Thats not to say they will completely shy away from families, because theres always Live E and plenty of mild rides, but in the end, people go to CP for thrills, bottom line.

It is going to tie into dragster. A trip to FT in less than one minute! :) CCMR was my favorite when I was a kid, my son's favorite until he graduated to bigger coasters and I'm looking forward to riding again when my youngest graduates from ID and DT. It's nice to see so many pointbuzers with concerns about kids and families riding. ENJOY!!:)

I think it is ridiculous that the height requirement for that ride is 48 inches. I wish they would lower it down to 44 or 48 inches, and if the seats aren't designed for it they should upgrade them to.
I couldn't agree more. My four year old daughter with 29 coaster credits under her belt already (including Disneyland's Space Mountain and Twister at Knoebels) has at least two more years before she can ride CCMR. She's already eyeing Gemini, Corkscrew, and Raptor. By the time she actually meets the height requirement, it will be old hat to her.
Oh, who am I kidding. She has Daddy's coaster bug all the way. Any ride is a good ride, as far as she's concerned. :)
Personally, I love CCMR. I hate having to put up with all the teens with their pretend shrieks and sarcastic comments. If you don't like it, don't ride it, dorks. It's a pleasant, sometimes jerky experience with unexpected bouts of zip, IMO.

"Wait until January when you're working on the other side and you'll be wishing it was warm and raining".
Perhaps this statement along with the hand gesture indicated that they would be working on the mainland come January? ("other side" of the water/bay?) They're local contractors, right? They could be working anywhere five months from now.

I think it more because of three things: 1: weather -> obvious, 2: economics -> times are tough for a lot of low-to-middle class families, and 3: the cost of gas. (Not just the cost of a tank to the park)
^Its about 95% weather and about 5% of the other 2. The "economy" and gas prices aren't having as big of an effect as everyone thought they would.

So do you want it lowered or not?

IRT Attendance
I don't know about that John. As you said, I don't think its been as big a problem as the media insists, but it sure has limited me in my trips thus far. Its because the gas prices have affected more than just travel - my stupid cat's food has gone up by $0.13 this summer, for example, and that's at Walmart. I've noticed a lot of things have gone up a few cents here and there, which can start to add up, especially when you're paying a bit more at the pump. Now, I may be a special case, as I'm also feeling the effects of cutbacks at work, but I would think that others may share similar plights - especially around the tri-county area.
I just heard on WWJ this morning that Detroit now is listed as having the second-lowest income level of any large city, with Cleveland taking first place. I think that may be indicative of the surrounding area's troubles, but who knows?

No, they're not stupid. They're actually quite intelligent, and I love mine. However, mine has FLV so it requires some additional care and looking-after, which makes me more prone to talk crap about him. Its all done with love, though. :)

Speaking of cats, I love all four of mine. Food is a little expensive because I have to buy Iams weight control with UTI protection. My one cat can eat no other food.
P2007 is getting more confusing by the moment.
You can bet the economy. Your typical local season pass holder may cut a trip or two. But if every season pass holder does that, it adds up! But the big business is the family of four. Who spend $150+ a night for a room, over $100 dollars a day in food and beverage, then buy all kinds of merchandise. These are the people you don't see as much and they hurt the bottom line more than anything. A family of 4 can spend $1000 easy in a day or 2. These are the people who travel large distance and think twice before spending that same $1000 now.
I know I live in Chicago and money is the number one reason I have only visited once this year(3 nights and $700 later, had a great time!). The years before I worked there, I went 5 to 7 times a year. Gas has DOUBLED since then. And since the prices of everything seem go to up a little more than my cost of living pay increase, something's got to go.

I'm just throwing this out there, but has anyone considered that CP might be building 2 separate new coasters this year. Starting construction as early as they did might allow this to be possible. Also, since the consensus seems to be that Maverick isn't going to go outside of the current project area, they should be able to complete construction by the end of this year (unless there is still something to be built on Maverick that is going to take a long time). This would allow them to spend the off season working primarily on a seconde coaster. I kind of like the idea of Maverick ending up like a bigger version of Speed Monster

It looks like a lot of fun, but it isn't going to cost an absurd amount of money. So maybe the workers were pointing to the general area in which the second coaster would be built. I think that Cedar Point would like to have some more space between their record so Magic Mountain isn't always breathing down their neck. Since they haven't built a coaster since 2003, I wouldn't be suprised if they add 2 for next year.
-Seth
Yeah, a park 2,000 miles away is "breathing down their neck."
They're not building two coasters this year. And if they were, it wouldn't be because SFMM has one more than they do.
