Another Rumor For The Fire

I know that in nine days none of the gossip will matter, but I wanted to pass this on.

Yesterday was my last trip to the park for the year. I was watching construction with some friends trying to get a better perspective on the new coaster than the pictures have provided.

A couple of the workers were complaining about the weather while they were eating, and they were being too kind because it was a miserable day. In response to their complaints, another worker made a comment along the lines of "Wait until January when you're working on the other side and you'll be wishing it was warm and raining".

What I found interesting about that was that he was pointing towards what I perceived was the Mine Ride.

After digesting that, it made me wonder if many of the previous posts were correct about the fact that we're just seeing the beginnings of this coaster and the bulk will be built during the off season.

Is it possible that the Mine Ride will pass into history after this season as well to make room for more of Project 2007 and that this coaster could pass over the paths between those areas?

I know this is just more idle chat, but the Mine Ride is pretty much a walk on even on the busiest days and everyone I know considers it a real snoozer compared to the newer coasters, even the kids!

Please be kind and don't bash me! I just thought what I heard lent a little weight to some of the other theories out there.

Whose kids are you talking to? The 7 and 8 year olds who love it and are too afraid to ride the bigger rides but too old for the real kiddy coasters?

I know that I ride it once on almost every trip. And I sure hope I can take my kids on it in the future.

It's one ride I don't ride anymore. The seats just aren't comfortable anymore, so I've stopped. Once I have kids though, you better believe I'm going to do everything I can to fit on it so I can ride with them.

They might be working on the Mine Ride on the Off-Season and that is what he was referring to.

I dont see them closing CCMR, but I do see them getting rid of the Antique cars.

Ride-on

The CCMR is one of the few roller coasters that my wife will ride. I hope that they don't close this one... My wife is afraid of heights... :(

I forgot, John - you're one of the tall ones. Hey, I guess its not so bad being short, after all. :)

I last rode it last year. And after getting off, I decided that was it. Having my knees bounced against the seat in front of me wasn't any fun, and unlike arrow trains, where some seats have more leg-room than others, these do not. So I have to give up.

But I will be back.

There are operations that can help you with that problem. ;)

Like John, I haven't been able to fit in those trains for about 20 years (I'm 6'5") and would hate to see it go for nostalgic reasons. When I took my first trip to CP back in the early seventies the Mine Ride and Shoot The Rapids were the only offerings in that part of the park! Back then, if I'm correct, you entered the ride through the shaft that's now barricaded, which was cool when you were younger.

However, change can be for the good...

That's true, but CCMR is a pretty nice ride. Its certainly tame enough for kids, but has some quick direction changes and enough speed to also make the experience exhilarating for them as well. Plus, its nice and smooth and seems small enough that maintenance shouldn't be too much of an issue.

But with the last 5 ride additions, and the removal of WWL (a true family ride) they are losing that aspect. I know plenty of people who are wary of riding Skyhawk or maXair but thought nothing of going on a flume ride.

To remove another family oriented ride for a coaster just doesn't seem like a great idea to me. I'd also hate to see the Antique Cars go. I'd almost rather see Cadillac Cars go before the Antiques do.

Agreed on the Antiques vs Cadillacs.

well I know at one point there were rumors/speculation that they wanted to build a coaster that went around / through the whole park... I highly doubt that is every going to happen but I think this new rumor is a good one, although I dont see them tearing down CCMR (unless of course it makes business sense, ie. ride maintenece costs, low ride attendance etc..etc..) I would think the Antique cars would go first. But whatev...

I do believe this is only the beginning and come next week we will find out just what they have up their sleeve cause its gonna be something we arent expecting I can almost promise. :)

I'm in that category of tall people (6'4" 220Ibs.). What I found to be the most confortable position on those type of coaster is to cross the legs at the ankles. This gives me much more leg room and knee room too. I've never had any problems. Just takes some getting the hang of using the arms to lower yourself into the set while you cross the ankle.

I'm not round in the middle, so that part doesn't bother me, most seats fit just right in the bottom section.

I doubt we will be seeing the mine ride leave. Its a great coaster for the younger ones, and i even enjoy it. If anything was going, like ohioboy said, it would probably Antique Cars.... But maybe the the project will do some flying over frontiertown in that direction without the removal of any rides. It would change up the midway a bit, because after all we are supposed to be seeing a "new" frontiertown.... I think it would be cool.

I'm not saying its gonna happen!!! (so dont tear me apart) its just cool little thought of mine.

I agree- i don't wish for bye bye for CCMR. it's good for kids. Those antique cars, though... verrry scarrry!!!! hopefully they'll keep them around during halloweekends before they peal off into the sunset.

Don't let up on the lovin'

The only reason I wouldn't want to see the "tiques" go is because there would be NO trees left in Frontiertown.

That's a good point that I didn't consider. There is a lot of unused space around the middle of CCMR that could provide room for elements of the new coaster.

Maybe there will be some integration or overlap?
