Announcement Theory

I agree with Old CPer's point that only the enthusiasts are more than vaguely aware of the new coasater at CP. For most people an announcement sometime in March or April is just fine. I'm willing to bet that at this time, most people really don't care what CP is building and would ignore the annoucement anyways. However, in the spring the local newspapers in the region will start writing stories about CP's new monster and at that time people will say, "gee, I think a trip to CP this year would be nice."

While I'm slightly disapointed by the lack of construction updates from CP that I've grown accustom to during the last two projects, I really don't need an annoucement until shortly before the park opens this spring.

Umm, I find this hard to believe because with all the media attention and the fact that the ride was being built while the park was still open.

I have to disagree with you there. The "media attention" isn't really that big of a deal yet. This time in 1999 everyone I worked with knew what Millennium Force was, now few even know something is being built.

I think in the Cleveland market at least that may change a little next week, depending on which TV news you watch.

I agree with you on that, Jeff. But you also have to remember that MF had already been announced by now...

So of course everyone already knew, but the way that roller coasters have been getting taller and faster quicker has kind of made it so nobody knows who's on top, etc.

I'm sure some people still think MF is the tallest and fastest. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

Reguarding to the Cleveland thing... is that a hint?

There has been very little media coverage of #16...I think there have been maybe three articles in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and about as many newscasts. Honestly, I find that surprising, considering that 1.) Cedar Point is only an hour and change away from here, and 2.) it'll be opening in just about five months. Even if there hasn't been an official announcement yet, it's still unusually quiet.

On a lighter note, I just wonder which of the stations is going to find a newscaster willing to ride this thing next year.

HAHAHA, I thought you'd get a kick out of that.

Just being a smartass, nothing new to you.

I think something is going to be leaked soon,1100 AM here in Cleveland did a CP 15 second radio spot today on the Triv show where they mentioned a "New thrill ride that will rock your world." to quote exactly. I think they are trying to get the news out now maybe hoping people will buy season passes as Christmas presents, who knows.
Yea I will do the x-mas thing with the season passes. It saves me a lot of pain at the mall and time as well. Whether there was a big ole ride being built or not!

And I really enjoy the visists to the park as well. It is really an escape as all of us will attest to.

How fortunate are we who live within a few hours of the park and have the money to waste on harmless fun and leisure. I am over 40, worked a summer in foods, and still get a 10 yr olds thrill when I drive the causeway to get in. And I am usually about a .25 BAC at least! God what fun and We all have to wait until the second week of may to go!

I AM COUNTING THE MINUTES, HOURS, DAYS, AND MONTHS!

So, more "real" info to come next week. I am not in Cleveland so I won't get to see it. That's ok though, I will be out golfing.

In any event, I am glad to see, 'Playa, that you keep just as busy on several boards. Let me know when your "Guide to Coasterbuzz's Black People" comes out.

I am thinking of a "Guide to Coasterbuzz's People Past Puberty" book. (It will probably be more of a pamphlet but what the heck.)

No, you won't get any more information next week than you've already heard, sorry.

A person that workes for the ordering on cedarpoint.com said she heard they may be announcing it in Jan. When in Jan. I don't know.
