Announcement Theory

We all know that the announcement date is the announcement date, but all everyone is saying is that CP could announce it with style. If the announcement date isn't set in stone (very unlikely), then they could arrange it like this.

Sense has nothing to do with it. To put it simply - it'd just be cool.

------------------
Soylent Green is made of people!!! It's people!!!

Curious, why are some people interested in the announcement date..It is not going to change anything that pertains to the ride...Secondly, some people will have less to talk about....I enjoy not knowing..I like reading about all the speculations and etc., . .All I'm concerned with is will it be safe and will it be available for me to ride next year...I'm quite sure the answers to both of the those questions will be a resounding yes...
Topping off a coaster isn't like completing a puzzle. You don't just clamp it in place. They have to do all sorts of stuff that I know nothing about and won't pretend to know like many fools on this board.

Anyway, that fact could cause a major disaster during its announcement.. many things could go wrong.. and CP doesnt want that.

I do think this ride will be topped off before announced however!

And for the person who isn't sure if this is going to break records... wake up and join reality pal!

The announcement wont change anything regarding the ride, but it will (finally) put to rest all the speculation, answer questions, and give us less to talk about.

I suspect within a week or two of finishing the tower, an announcement will be made. I doubt the tower will be finished the same day of the announcement, that is too much to handle at once. I just believe that the announcement will happen close in time to the tower being completed.

Less to talk about!!!...That means Less morons coming on this site pretending to the monty jasper or somebody sent from heaven to tell us about the new ride.

I cant wait!!!!

I'm with Big D. A lot of newbies who think they know everything will dissappear after the announcement. It happened with WT. Besides, I'm getting sick of it because there isn't any more speculation going on, just a lot of newbies flaming each other.

This marketing strategy that I think CP is using could end up being great, keeping everybody on the edge of their seats till the anouncment with bated breath, or it could backfire and by the time they actually make an official anouncement it would be extremely anti-climatic.

No, it literally can't 'backfire.' The strategy is to get maximum exposure about the new ride, ultimately leading to increased attendence next year. Amongst us enthusiasts, some of whom are now bored by the speculation and waiting--the only way it backfires is if we decide not to go to CP this year for that reason, and that's of course absurd.

As for the audience that matters (the GP), they've likely heard of something new being built at CP, but they won't know what it is until the announcement. Then they'll start planning their trips, impressed by the record-breaking height and speed. So I don't see how it can backfire.

Just wondering, why are people arguing with someone who knows more about this ride than we do. My guess, although I could be way off, is that Jeff just might have an idea when it's going to be announced, not saying that Jeff knows all, just saying that he obviously knows more than the rest of us. I would just take Jeff's word for it and not argue with him. Just my 2 cents worth.

As far as the announcement date, I'd have to agree with Jeff and the rest in saying that the announcement date is the announcement date. Marketing and construction are two seperate entities for CF/CP. Another good point was made by mk468zz, this won't backfire. All of us enthusiasts will be in the park next year anyways, regardless of how 'anti-climatic' this is for us, we'll be there. It's the GP that needs to hear about it. If they announce it too early then the GP won't be as interested. If they announce it closer to opening day then it will be 'fresh in the minds' of the GP, at least more so than it would if they announced it last month. That's why I don't think their marketing would be aimed more at the GP than the enthusiasts. Once again, just my 2 cents worth.
