In fact, my ride on Gatekeeper this year was by far the best I've had in terms of forcefulness. It may just be my imagination, but it seemed to have a higher average speed than I remember. I even got decent airtime pop on the camelback.
And more on topic, after Valravn I wouldn't be against going in a new direction with someone like Mack Rides or Gerstlauer as long as it indeed has good capacity (No eurofighters obviously) and has good up-time. Most people, including me unfortunately, only make it out to Cedar Point once a year. Since that is the case, it is vital that rides have good reliability.

B&M builds some great coasters that I thouroughly enjoy riding. Intamin builds some great coasters that I thouroughly enjoy riding. That being said I find it laughable the hatred for Intamin, and absolute love of anything and everything B&M that certain enthusiast crowds have...
I generally find it to be the other way around.
2018- Raptor
CP Top 5- 1)MF 2) Maverick 3) Gatekeeper 4) Top Thrill Dragster 5) Raptor
I also felt like GateKeeper was more forceful this year. I rode in the back row and the force into the mouth/immelmann was biblical.
GateKeeper is my favorite coaster in the park, right side back row. To me, the look of the coaster alone steals the show, usually has shorter lines, is a people eater, and has some really excellent and exciting elements. And yes it does seem to have a little more kick this season.
The one disappointment I have with Gatekeeper is that they didn't make an underwater tunnel through Lake Erie for it :(

I hope this talk about gatekeeper being more forceful this year is true. I love gatekeeper, but it's definitely not the most intense ride i've ridden.

Pretty sure that underwater coaster is never going to happen. Just look at the dates on that thread!

I dont think that Gatekeeper was meant to be the most intense.

I only rode Gatekeeper for the first time less than two weeks ago, so I have no idea how "intense" it was in previous seasons. I will say that I greatly enjoyed it, though, and it seemed intense enough for me! Not MF, Maverick, or TTD intense, of course. But I liked it enough to ride it at least six times that day! I should have tried one of the rear rows, but I was having too much damn fun alternating between the two front corners! That first rotation at the top of the lift hill is just awesome. :D

any news on any kind of official word?
Yes. According to the app, the announcement will take place at 12:00AM on Christmas Day.

Well, I can't wait to read the backlash of negitive comments abt that, if its true, which if its on the app it must be right ? Christmas Day...really ? Will people get in the cars and go to the park in the cold temps and possibly snow ? What if its a level 3 ? I guess people will be going to jail that day. "Well officer I had to go to Cedar Point for the big announcement. " I know the park wanted t show respect for what happen, which was not their fault, but, really ? Well, we know it's a coaster so there is your announcement. I knew in the latest app, that Lake Erie look frozen, least on my ph it did. Oh, well. I hope the have enough wrapping paper and a big bow for the Whatever Coaster.
A Christmas announcement? I guess that makes Valravn the "Raven of the Sleighn."
I'm sure you're not serious because you and everybody else has not received an invitation to an on-site announcement on that day. The app merely says when it will reveal more details and activate VR mode.
No, an elf hasn't shown up at my door inviting me to the park on Christmas Day, and if they did or do, I wouldnt be there. I will be w my kids and grandkids in a warm house, I could careless abt a coaster announcement on Christmas Day. This is Ohio, not Texas where most likely it will be 75 , not -12 above to come for a announcement. No wonder this park lost the Golden Ticket Award.
I'm sure they're not planning an announcement on Christmas Day. But that is, as far as I know, the only "official" comment/info we have from the park regarding an announcement.

I was born a Buckeye, and most likely die a Buckeye, and I am a retired charter and tour bus driver. I have been to what was once known as The # 1 Amusement Park in the World more times that I can count for FREE cause of bringing groups to the park. Plus, coming on days off. I was there sometimes so much in a week, the ride operators knew me by 1st name and comment, " Wasn't you here just yesterday "? I have spoke highly of this place at every other park I have been to or states I've been. But, some of you seem like your addicted so much, this place could never ever do anything wrong. Well, to me.. This announcement deal is messed up. I know what happen, but hey, let's move on. Life waits for no one. It's a rollercoaster for Godsakes.
