Back to the app, yes, running the app with no network connection counts down to midnight today. I'll disconnect the network from my phone about 11:55pm today to see what happens. Maybe more is required to trigger what is on the app than just the count down timer going to zero. We will see. If when the app runs on a phone with a normal network connection and it does trigger on the 18th, that will really muck up CP's announcement now that it has been moved. That depends of course on how many people have the app, but I'm sure it's enough to put a monkey wrench in the works.

Are people forgetting that this individual is DEAD now? He is NO LONGER LIVING. Yes, what he did was wrong, but HE DIED because of it. He got more than what he deserved and people are still pounding the rude comments on him. What if this was your buddy or family who hopped that fence? You wouldn't be complaining about the postpone as much then, would you? Wake up people!

From CP's Twitter:
Due to yesterday's incident, we are respectfully postponing our 2016 announcement event. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Who's getting married?
As if it needs to be said, if your first reaction to the news that the announcement would be delayed was along the lines of.."well, I guess I understand", then you are an emotionally healthy human being. Congrats! You're ready for relationships and stuff.
If your first reaction was along the lines of "dammit!", it's time to make a change. If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and then make that...change.
Promoter of fog.
^Thank you, Michael.
If anything would fit the definition of first world problems this one definitely takes the cake. Get a grip!

For those of you out there whining about the postponement of the announcement. Just shut up. This is some ones life we are talking about. Even more so his family who no longer has him. Imagine if he was your friend/brother/teacher/father/etc. Would you really be crying about the postponement of the announcement and how much of an idiot the guy was for doing what he did? (For the record, I recognize the fact that the guy did something completely stupid and he should have known better, however I have enough sympathy for other humans to recognize that this is a tragic event.) Any way, it is not like you don't have a general idea about what the announcement entails. The app leaked some images of the layout for the coaster which are most likely going to be exactly what we get.
I'm not sure if this has any connection to Project 2016 at all, but the live video cams on the Cedar Point website have been changed to these three images.
Now, there was a theory that was circling around about a possible other name for Project 2016 being something along the lines of the "Lake Erie Monster" because of the stormy lake in the background of the announcement countdown. I don't know about you, but where Cam 2 is zoomed on the Rougarou flowerbed kind of looks like the "Lake Erie Monster" according to the sightings that have been made. Plus, Cams 1+3 are, once again, focused on the lake. Adding more evidence, the color of the so called monster is copper, silver, and blue. The EXACT same colors of the track at the B&M manufacturing plant.
Just my 2 cents, but I'm pretty convinced that what we have seen so far as far as the name and possibly the layout is all a red herring. Yes the dive coaster is coming, but maybe not what most have us have seen?
Is there any word on when the new announcement date is? I understand why they postponed it. It's easy for a new ride announcement to be overshadowed by the incident that just occurred. My buddy and I were at the park the 11th and he lost his hat on Millennium and we got on the topic of an incident that happened at a six flags park on a ride similar to Raptor in which an individual lost his life. Crazy stuff man.
Coaster Bucket List: 1) Fury 325 2) Leviathan 3) Intimidator 305 4) Kingda Ka 5) Formula Rosa
I wouldn't expect the new announcement date to be announced right away. They may still be working to tweak the date/time, event, or (not likely) what they're announcing.

I don't think they're going to give us hints after they just postponed the announcement. It's clear they want to take a break from marketing a a brand new coaster at this time. I believe they have the webcams set on the lake and flowers for memorial purposes.
In terms of the name, I think it's a bit close to "Lake Erie Eagles", don't you? Also, seems kind of corny in my opinion.
Hilarious that people on this website are complaining about the announcement being postponed when we already know (with 95% certainty) what the announcement is.
Yes, this is a sad time for what happen. At the most the good news is that it wasn't a safety failure of the ride, or ride operators. It was a poor choice by this person. The annoucement is still coming, just an unseen setback Im sure park officals didn't desire. But, as the ole saying goes, " the show will go on ". So, for a moment, say a prayer for this man, the ride operators, and to those who seen it happen . This just gives us a little more time to guess or hope what is to come, weither we already know it or it fools us all. Let this be a lesson to many, material things in life can be replaced, life however is a one time journey in this time. Use common sense, its not worth the outcome that has happen.
According to this page, they have abandoned the Valravn trademark. Not sure how reliable this page is, but take it with a grain of salt:

And just when I was warming up to the name. Such an unfortunate event that didn't need to happen. Unfortunate for the family, unfortunate for the park.....unfortunate for all involved. We're on the bottom of that list but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to Tuesday.
I also wonder how enthusiastic or involved the hype for the new name/announcement will be. Especially now considering that all the dark cloud artwork (and all artwork involved so far) is, obsolete. Of course, this is assuming that they are indeed dropping the name. Still though, a bummer series of days for everyone.

Though I understand why they would change the name, I really hope they don't. The name was really growing on me and the logo, as I'm sure everyone agrees, is awesome. As said before, practically no one knows what a Valravn is, and when they go to look it up they will more than likely see "Danish folklore of a supernatural raven" or something along those lines and won't feel to look any further into it.

The worry is (more or less), just how many people are going to make a connection between a man who died and the meaning behind Valravn once they look it up?

Honestly I've never been a fan of the name and I was hoping that it was created just to throw people off.
I'd like to give Cedar Point officials credit for handling this whole situation with class and dignity. I can't imagine how stressful this all must be, especially with it happening so close to a scheduled announcement.
How about they just call it Raven? I never knew how to pronounce Valravn and I'm sure other folks might have a hard time grasping it. It's a head scratcher, wondering why they wouldn't name it something more straight forward and simple.
