The park needs something for grown ups to do after the park closes when they're staying on-property. I've been saying that for years. But dancing... that's immoral. ;)
Exactly. Not just CP but the city of Sandusky needs more for adults to enjoy, afterhours...

Forget about a dance club for kids, get something for adults!
When I was a kid, CP had the Circus Bar at the Breakers which had dancing, and the Marina Steak House had bands at night along with a dance floor.
Get adult night life at the Point!

Who said anything about teenagers? I'm talking about giving the grown ups something to do.

Giving the adults something to do will be more difficult than giving the kids something to do. Especially with Put-in-Bay 50 minutes away when you take the Jet Express from Sandusky. Which I can see being the biggest reason for not having <21 nightlife in the immediate area. It would be impossible to compete with PIB. The last Jet leaves PIB at midnight, it's arrival would be close to 12:45am. 75 minutes does not give much time to have lots of fun.
For the >21 crowd- something like a dance club connected to Castaway Bay would be ideal, and also has the possibility of operating on a year-round basis.
But with all the "winter" things to do in Sandusky popping up at an alarming rate, it really is only a matter of time until there are more nightlife events & attractions added.
Beer and golf Thursday thru Monday, Cedar Point & beer, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Most of the people who go to Cedar Point won't go to Put-In-Bay, they need night life on Point.
The under 21 crowd does not need a night club, the adults need something to do at night, not the kiddies.

Why do you say that?
I would have to think that since Jet-Express now has a Sandusky option they see a potential to boost revenue. Why else would they even have the option when Port Clinton is 20 miles away?

Of course there are some CP Resorts guests that take the Jet to PIB at some point during their vacation. The Jet Express markets itself as a way to spend the day at PIB, not for a couple hours of nightlife after a day at the park.
What I'm saying is the majority of the CP Resorts guests don't take the Jet to PIB. The 30 some dollar round trip fare per person and the travel time to PIB and back does not make it attractive to someone who wants some convenient night life after their day in the park. CP needs to provide some adult oriented nightlife on their property that is convenient and fun.

You mean like MF, Magnum, TTD, Maverick, Raptor, etc.?

Does anyone know approximiately what percentage of CP guests stay overnight? I have been going to the park for almost 40 years and other than staying in the marina 3 or 4 times, I have never stayed overnight. I have always lived within a 2 hour drive of the park so going home at the end of the day is no problem. But many people on here appear to stay overnight (often times for multiple nights). And presumably with Sandusky becoming the indoor waterpark capital of the world, many of the people staying there are also going to CP (at least during operating season).
With the decline/stagnation of the Detroit and Cleveland metro areas (which I understand are the two biggest markets for CP), I would think CP needs to (and does) draw from further outside those areas. And that would make overnight stays more common.
The discussion of after hours activities for adults and kids got me thinking about what percentage of people do not head back home when the park closes.
I always stay overnight, but I've never stayed at the park. I always camp out at East Harbor State Park in Port Clinton. The drive is about 1/2 hour, so not too bad. And it saves money on the stay (and is way more fun IMO). But it's very obvious that more than half of the people that stay at the campground stay there to go to CP. I'd bet about 1/4 of the total crowd stays overnight somewhere each day.

Pete is an island rat. He knows what he's talking about. He has a boat in the CP marina.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. When you hang out on your little deck at Lighthouse Point and look down the shore and see people drinking and having a good time there, you're leaving money on the table. At seven bucks a beer, that's a lot of money. Grown ups like to go to bars, listen to music, and hang out. Friday's is the closest thing to that we have now, and if you've ever tried to go there, you know it's totally inadequate. The biggest Friday's in the world is still not enough to service the adults staying in hundreds of rooms and cottages.

You wouldn't want to go anyway Tim.
They'd probably have national beers on tap rather than opening a Cedar Point brewpub or using a local microbrew. ;)
Ohh, that sounds like a good idea. Make some beers and name them after Cedar Point rides. Hmmm, maybe I've hit on something here.
Back on topic. To be honest, when we've stayed at LHP I've never really wanted to go somewhere else in the evening. Sitting on the porch has been more than enough. I do know what Jeff is saying, if you're a CP big-wig, how do you not see that and think, "How can we make money off of this". Heck, putting in just a small outdoor bar/patio in the Camper Village/ LHP area would be enough.

You're right. They'd put in some national chain like Dick Clark's, Dave and Busters or House of Blue.
Finally got to see and enjoy Luminosity.
Awesome show...beats the old laser screen show, how out dated was that???
Kids & adults both loved Luminocity...what a good way to end the night at CP....the lead singers, drummers & dancers were great.........DJ popped out of the stage and was a hit ....
Dancers on the pods were a hit too!!!..nice idea for folks viewing from far away...so back to the future, kids dancing at the end of the night having a good time, DJ playing great tunes
funny thing.......seems that things that make folks happy today were the same things 50 or more years ago.....Go see Luminocity, enjoy the show, the dance party.....it's only going to get better
I've said it before, and I will say it again: a Margaritaville on the beach. Get Pat Daly to play every now and then and boom... you have a perfect Key West style after hours spot in the perfect setting for one. Maybe put it down near DT to allow the platinum parking area to be used in the offseason for a year round operation to justify the franchise fees.
Alternately, partner with Lyman Harbor and/or The Pony; Easy shuttle runs to Breakers, Sandcastle & Lighthouse and walking distance to Breakers Express & Castaway. Maybe have one of the booze cruises that leave from downtown have a pickup/dropoff spot at the marina.
Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."
You guys have fun at your adult bar, while I ride coasters, the reason why I go to CP.
Favorite coaster: Millennium Force
Favorite flat: maXair
Doesn't Luminosity turn into a Dance Club-like setting once the performers are done and the DJ starts up? I haven't made it there yet to witness, but that's the impression I got from reading about it.
^^Most who talk about wanting a beach bar do so for an after hours place to go. You know, after the park closes when you can't ride the coasters anymore. Thats why the post above yours said "..after hours spot".
