Am I the only one who hates "Hold On"?

Just saw the commercial online today (CP tends to not do a lot of advertising here in Central PA). I had actually heard the song for the first time last week when on hold with the Breakers (confirming June reservations) and didn't like it then.

I didn't realize that they were also using the song on the commercial as well. While I like the video, I HATE the audio. I hate "hold on", I hate the double-entendre, I hate the fact that everyone is holding on in the commercial. What is this, Fantasyland?

Sorry, didn't mean to turn this into a rant, but it seems like I'm probably in the minority on this slogan. Anyone with me?

Hey guys, I'm back!
Heck Yeah. On Gemini yesterday, I was the only one that did not listen to their propaganda of HOLD ON! It's tough to slap hands on the turns when everyone feels the need to HOLD ON.

In addition to that, I think it's a stupid slogan.
Thank you. I really think this is one of the worst slogans they've ever had. "Hold on" sounds like your supposed to not go yet. I might just "hold on" and go someplace else instead.

I don't mind the current slogan, but I think a 2001 version of "Get to the Point" with the same upbeat style of "Hold On" would have been nice.

Yeah... "Hold on" is not one of their better campaigns.

In light of all of the development at the competition's house, I think now would be a better time than ever to really play up the tradition and history with the "Get to The Point" stuff. You know, push the emotional buttons that make you remember the good times. People like familiar stuff.

Futuristic bow-wow... do the dog catcher!
You're making it sound like a Disney World commercial :) Hey, if it works for Disney, why wouldn't it work for CP?

I always thought "The Amazement Park" was the best, as it has not stopped amazing.
Jeff -

Hersheypark is doing exactly that this year. With no new major capital improvements, their slogan this year is "Come play... again", hitting on the nostalgia theme. If last weekend was any indication, it's working.

Hey guys, I'm back!
"Hold on"=stupid
"Get to the point"=classic, i miss it

Abolish the propaganda. Big brother is NOT watching you! Storm the ministry of truth and throw all of the rectified reading materials into the memory hole! The time has come to overthrow the Party.

If you haven't seen it yet, you can watch (and listen to) the commercial on the official site by clicking the link above.

Are they trying to create some kind of conspiracy (ok, maybe that's not the best word for it) with Hold on, no pictures of hands up, and individually telling each person on MF to keep their hands down? No. Of course it is all liability, safety measures, etc. But how does the GP take "Hold on"? Hold on on all the coasters (seems like it has had some effect)? Hold on, don't come to the park yet (uh I don't think so)? Or do they take it the way it is most likely intended - Hold on, cause you're in for a wild time on some wild rides? (Actually most people probably don't take it at all...)

Hold on just doesn't give you the same feeling that Get to the Point, Cure for the Summertime Blues, the Amazement Park, etc. give you. Plus the song that we all know and um, love, just doesn't cut it.

My THREE cents :)

HEY, HEY!!!!!!!!!!

There not trying to mean hold on to your lap bar, they mean, "you better hold on , because we are going to have alot of fun" its like an expression, they don't mean to actually "Hold On"
since it has alot of coasters, they thought that that expression would work! I personaly like the commercial

Ok let's look at what we have lost for 2k1.
Fascination, Gone
Cartoon Signs, Gone
9 A.M. opening, Gone
Proposed Fountain for Midway, Gone
Good Slogan, Gone
New "Hold On!" slogan, I wish it was gone
I liked America's Rollercoast (not rockin'), are they still saying that after the ride this year?

-------------
Crady Crady!! CRADY CRADY!!
I do not care for this slogan at all. It is too repetitive and it seems to me that you need to hold on for the ride beacuse of safety, not hold on because you are in for a crazy ride. I liked the old slogans much better. I mean I could think of a better slogan than this one.
America's Rollercoast (and rockin) are still around. Depends on the ride ops on the platform for rockin' or not rockin'.

And did anyone follow the allusion in my first post up there ^ ?

I think the "Hold On" song is kinda catchy really. Though I don't like the words and lyrics very much but the music is nice.

"Get to the Point" is much better and a better tune.

Yeah, Magnum 1989-, we have lost a lot of cool stuff... Oh well, we'll all get used to it. :(

I hate the cheesy music, but I suppose not every commerical can now measure up to the kid sledding...

A bad day at CP is better than a good day at work.

Definitly, Jmstuckman :). That was a great add, although it was for Mantis, and not the whole park...

I personally would have to say that the "Hold On!" campaign is pretty good, if pretty good is some other language for suckass ;).

C'mon CP, you can do better than that...

Wow, a whole 100 laps on Gemini...Weaklings... Try 13 on Corkscrew! ;)
Screw laps: 13 and counting
