Alcohol permitted in queues this year.

There has been beer and/or wine at every family gathering I can remember (or wine coolers for my lightweight mother). Since when is alcohol not family friendly?

Again, get off your high and mighty horses claiming this asinine moral superiority over the rejection of alcohol.

Shawn - You can't be serious! I am a smoker and it annoys me when people smoke in line. Have some courtesy to those around you who do and don't smoke. You're cramped in a space with people on every side of you with nowhere to go to avoid the smoke being blown right in your face. While I don't necessarily agree with the rules about not being able to smoke while walking down the open midway, I have always agreed with the no smoking in line rule! I'd say, "Use some common sense," but then again why do they call it common when it's so infrequently used?

The last thing CP needs is to have a bunch of drunk or half drunk teenagers fighting in line, especially a line with younger kids in it that could get injured for all we know......

I can asure you that in 100% of my experiences at CP, they have the strictest carding policy and enforcement I have ever seen.

This is a good policy change, in both my wife's opinion and my own. Both of us, by the way, enjoy a glass (or 2) of wine virtually every night. Apparantly some of you will find this hard to believe, but enjoying an alcoholic beverage does not make one an alcoholic, and I cannot remember the last time I would say I was actually "drunk". Each time I go to CP we have a few beers.

It's actually been quite annoying over the years not to be able to take our cup o'beer in the lines; the "trash" argument is absurd, seeing as how everything else can be taken in the lines.

Like I said, CP cards, and cards seriously (they wont let me (31) purchase 2 beers without 2 ID's).

All of you can take a deep breath and relax.

People aren't going to be 'more drunk in line' because they can drink in line. Someone approaches the line with a beer, is told he can't drink it, and therefor downs it (as your average guy isn't going to toss out the beer that cost him half a car payment to buy). That person now has atleast one beer in their system.

Someone walks thru the line with said beer, enjoying it as normal, end result is that person now has atleast one beer in their system, but has had more time to metabolize it.

Someone will need to point out to me the problem here because I am just not seeing it. Being able to drink a CP beer in line does nothing to add to problems, and does nothing to prevent the people who bring booze in Pepsi bottles from enjoying ther illicit beverage, as most people don't get drunk when the price per drink represents a few gallons of gas.

^ - the problem will be when the price of a gallon of gas represents a few drinks at Cedar Point. ;)

Trust me, people, you won't notice the policy change. Busch parks have let alcohol in line since the beginning of time (AND HAVE FREE ALCOHOL IN THEIR PARKS!!!) Disney lets alcohol in line. I've worked for both of these companies, and never once had a situation in line because alcohol was let in.

Then again, I betcha Busch can get some pretty darn cheap beer. ;)

I agree that some people will abuse this and get wasted in line...

But I guess the park could get more money.

Besides hearing it from someone who heard it from orientation, does anyone really know first hand? I just looked at the website and nothing has changed regarding that policy. I could really care less. Sometimes I have to chug it down before getting in line, but I only have a few in the park the entire visit and the chances of having to deal with this policy doesn't really seem to matter a whole lot.

I'm sorry I didn't word my wording right. What I meant was I'm glad you cannot smoke in line. I just said that because I'm sure someone might get affended by this rule. I am no means a smoker and never will be, but I just kind of found this new rule weird when I first read about it. I am with you as well on the new smoking ban they came out with last year. Unfortunately there are still people out there that still light one up with the new policy.

Girls stick small half pints (or if they have big ones, pints) in their bra, people sneak clear liquors in as water. Other people buy for them who are under 21, and you go out to the car, or the hotel before hand, etc.

Cedar Point can do what they do, and the ones who choose to rebel will rebel and they always will.

Damn near short of putting a breathalyzer at every ride entrance, and park entrance....you will not catch all the drunk minors.

All I can say is the security that CP offers (employees, ride-op's, CP police, etc) is top notch and if you are doing things too obviously....you will get busted. It seems everyone has a little tolerance until things go too far. CP has a low tolerance to begin with, and they do not let things get too far.

They have cop cars and police ready to hand cuff you. Anyone with half a brain will go "gee, I might be 18, and drunk....but I should be having SOME behavior now seems how police are everywhere".

Just doesn't matter....

Plus with all the states that guests come and visit CP from....who knows what a Guam or Turks and Caico's ID legit ID looks like?

Pete - how can you say alcohol has zero effect on others? Everyone is different when it comes to what they like to smell. I absolutely hate the smell of alcohol! I would rather be next to someone smoking, which i also hate. Plus worrying about someone spilling it. Not saying because they are drunk. But all it takes is someone to bump into that person. Which happens a lot in queue lines.

I know most people are responsible drinkers. I am not attacking them. Just like smokers should, they should have a little courtesy towards those around them.

I remember in line for Raptor last year, it was during nighttime, when everyones all hyper and such I suppose, the three people behind me in line were drinking. The next thing I know I got alchohol all down my shirt (which was actually a new CP shirt :S) and my parents think I was drinking, not to mention being soaked with a weird smelling beer for half an hour. I dont really care either way, but it seem's kind of an improvement to me, I really dont want another alchohol-logged shirt.

Whatthe hell are you talking about? Based on what? Did I miss somethingwhere it was said you could buy beer in more locations and for lessmoney? Have customers been saying, "Oh, we'll buy more beer if we cantake it in line?"

No, what happened is that someone, somewhere, realized that they were inconveniencing guests, period.

Oh, come on, can you honestly say that the smell (which is almost non-existant to me) of someone's beer is anywhere near offensive as a cloud of smoke?

That's like saying that CP should ban mustard in the queue because some people don't like the smell, which is much stronger than beer. How about banning Pepsi, because someone might spill it if they get bumped?

I'm not flaming you Jerry, but you have to know that cigarette smoke is an actual hazard to people. I don't really care about the smell of second hand smoke, I care about what it does to my lungs. The smell of alcohol? That's really pushing the limits of logic.

Alcohol isn't of a high enough concentration in that watery stuff they call beer to smell it.

What annoys me is that every time this subject comes up, people interject their politics or make silly comparisons to smoking, crack or chocolate bingeing. Get used to it folks... prohibition didn't work, and it won't be coming back any time soon.
