Aerial view of Area 51

I flew over Cedar Point today and looked for area 51. It seemed to be a pretty big area and I noticed a white truck. I really would count AGAINST a roller coaster. I don't think there is much room for a roller coaster, unless it is a small one. Millennium Force is just too close to this area and from what it looked like, they are pretty much stuck to that little plot of land. However, the area is quite big. It seems to be big enough for a large ride of some sort.

Who knows what is in store, but I wouldn't put my cookies on a coaster. As much as I would like one, it just doesn't seem to work out.

My 2 1/2 cents ;)

The plot of land itself is too small, but what's to say there couldn't be any relocation of rides and taking out of trees...?

That is very true; however, you don't have much room to squeeze a coaster in even if you clear out the trees. Plus, I don't see Cedar Point moving Millie, Mine Ride, Gemini, or any of the rides in that area.

That land does look perfect for a nice Huss type ride ;)

I was talking about moving some of the flats around like Chaos and Troika. I think there is enough room to include Area 51, the area of the flats, all the way down between Iron Dragon, and MF.

Yeah Cp_Bound, I agree. I mean whatever coaster would go there would have a small footprint unless they do wind into Millennium Island. Coasters with small footprints would be a wild mouse, Intiman Rocket Coaster, S&S Coaster, ArrowBatic, and I know there are some I'm leaving out.

They should move the rides like Chaos and Troika to the back of the park to get more guests back there by Mean Streak.

You know, the funny thing is, if you count in some old rumors, I mean several year's worth, suddenly things become a little clearer about what their plans are.

I am now getting the idea that you somehow found out something concrete. Now come forth the ones who will ask you to tell us. Not me! It is a waste of my typing skills to even ask. You never tell...never. But clues and riddles are fun.

I haven't been around long enough to remember any of that "old stuff".

I especially like the ones where someone says something that doesn't make a damn bit of sense until after the ride is announced, and you're not quite really sure whether they actually knew something before hand or not. For example:

MrScott, I flew over CP in a Piper Archer. I wish I could have gotten a better view, but I don't intend to mess with the crazy air traffic over the lake. CP sure looks nice from the air, but much better from the ground or even 310 feet up ;)

I still think it is going to be a restaurant or flat ride. The less I expect, the better I will feel come announcement time.

Although I do see some indicators as to why a coaster might be put in, I see just as many reasons why a coaster might NOT be put in. My speculation isn't going to be worth much right now.

I will post again in a few days after I see the area for myself and talk to a few people (and disregard their information. lol. Yay for process of elimination.) I like to make good guesses, not bad ones.

Thanks, MrCoaster. Glad to hear it was a real plane and not one of those parachutes with a chainsaw engine for power. I have one of those things that flies over my house all the time. I wonder if CP has any airspace restrictions that would prevent one of those things (or an ultra lite) from buzzing the park...

MrScott, there are no airspace restrictions over CP (just the FAA minimums which are too minimum for me). Now I'm not exactly sure where and what restrictions apply to ultra lites or paragliders because they are not governed under the FAA.

Very interesting, however!

Can you imagine a few of those things over CP at the same time? It would be like being swarmed by bees! I am suprised that this has not been an issue.

And it would be very dangerous, too...
