Admission & Food Prices Dropped

A little price drop adds up pretty quick, thinking back on my trips there this summer, i could go home with 10$ extra bucks in my pocket

Lowering food prices is great, but they also need to be open and honest about the menu.

I've complained about the "basket" pricing on here before. It is a ploy to get people to buy fries with a sandwich. I've noticed a lot of people complain about the prices because they somehow miss "Cheeseburger Basket" and just think "Cheeseburger", because individual sandwich prices are not listed. They need to itemize and price every item separately, they can still have baskets if they want to, just like McDonald's does.

Just pricing baskets makes the high food prices look even higher to many people.

has cp always sold fresh cotton candy, like theyre advertising for next season for 25 cents? if so, where was it sold, and how much was it before?

I agree with dj, park food is part of the experience. A trip to Cedar Point without a nice meal at Coasters just isn't the same.

Lowering ticket prices for junior and seniors is a great step as is the $5 decrease in adult admission. Now, if they can bring service levels back to where it was 5-10 years ago and start working on capital projects that are more family friendly I don't think it would take more than a couple of years to get the glory back.

It will be a lot nicer with the prices lower. The vending machine prices were crazy. I hope they do something about those.

As of October 30, 2005, I have rode EVERY thrill ride at cedar point! Begining with the Raptor and ending with the Demon Drop.

Oh, I always eat at coasters once a trip, and its a decent meal for me. They definately make a giant profit on the pop, because the syrup ,if I remember right, Is like $1 a gallon or less, though it may have gone up a bit. But still, If you say about $.05 for the pop syrup and maybe $.30 for the water in the cup, that's only $.35 cents they need to charge for the drink. Now after hourly wages for one employee and the paper cups, I could understandably see $2 for a pop.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

While we are talking about the whole "basket" thing, What about giving out straws and lids with your pop?

They have straws if you ask. Lids would be nice, though I suspect there's a reason why they don't have them.

The Palace (Detroit Pistons stadium) doesn't give out lids for the purpose of throwing them on the floor. (Don't go there)

I'm sure CP does it for the same reason.

I'd bet that reason is blowing plastic trash, Walt. That, and it's a cost save to not provide them.

The price drop is getting huge hype. There is a huge 2 page article in the Detriot Free Press about it.

And why were they on the floor in the first place lol (you get where I'm going ;) ) Just Kidding, I'm a Pistons fan.

It would be nice if they did have lids and straws though. Last time I went they said they didn't have straws. Although that was on closing day and they might not have wanted a lot of straws just to waist them.

They did sell cotton candy on the midway this season, although it was packaged behind-the-scenes in plastic Cedar Point bags, not on sticks. I would imagine by putting it on a stick it will be a slightly smaller portion, but it will be made fresh in front of you. And hey, it is only $0.25 next year vs. $3.00 this year.

food prices do indeed need to be dropped cuz us employees feel those prices also when we want some food.

They sell cotton candy for 25 cents because they will make the money back when everyone buys 4 sticks and then runs to the vending machines to buy drinks to quench their thirst after eating a cup of sugar.

Just FYI. Pop syrup for our family chain of restaurants (a little smaller) is about $43.75 for a 5 gallon container of Coca Cola. Cedar Point probably uses a lower syrup content and gets it maybe $10-15 cheaper. Hard to tell. I wish pop was cheaper than gasoline ;)

At work, a glass beer is cheaper than an espresso, or regular coffee, or pop. I thought that was funny.

Does anyone else wonder why they announced the price drop in November instead of, say April?

I think people make their summer plans earlier than they used to. If we are sitting around in this winter trying to figure out what we will do for summer vacation this announcement might make me think about heading to the point. A family is going to save some significant dough next year.

It probably goes a little way to take away some of the sting of not having a major ride announcement either.
