8/17 Worst CP day in years

Goodbye MrScott

John

If I had a crappy day I have the right to bitch about it. And I did have a crappy day there.

When i am shelling out $40 to go somewhere and I go for certain things I expect them to be there and working. They may not want their stuff to be closed and to be under stocked, but they should be prepared for that stuff.

When I spend my money I expect to get what I paid for...and i didn't at all.

And some people may have fun doing the small rides with their kids, but I am not a kid. i don't find those cheap carnival rides I could ride at a county fair to actually be fun. Even if I did, I sure don't pay $40 to go and getto ride those. I go to Cedar Point for roller coasters and when they can;t keep their new one up and running that is a problem.

And everyone I know who has ridden Magnum gets off with a headache, a backache and (at least the females) their chests hurting almost as much as it does on the Mean Streak. It used to be my mom's favorite but she can't even ride it anymore because it hurt her so much last time.

Edited to remove certain words, didn't realize how much this edited and that certain words weren't allowed, the other message boards don't see all of them as cursing *** Edited 8/18/2007 4:29:02 PM UTC by Caitie***

We rode coasters, too. And you don't find a Power Tower at any carnival that I've ever been to.

Magnum is still my favorite ride. Not rough, I don't think. If you don't like it, don't ride it.

Personally, I don't care for MF. I think it's stupid to wait hours for a ride that has one hill and just speed. But we all have our differences.

I showed my teenagers your post, they cracked up laughing. They wanna know why you don't just get a season pass. That way you aren't limited to your visits, and if they're ever out of a blue raspberry icee, you can just get one on your next visit.

Maybe because this year I am only in Ohio for a month total. And that would require me to actually have time to go 3 times a year...some of us do not have to luxury to go to Cedar Point anytime we want to because of other obligations. And Power Tower is not worth the 45 minute wait there was when we went by, never was and never will be

I think Magnum isn't as smooth as it once was, but it's no where near what I would call rough. I specifically stay away from the rides that I know are rough, like Mean Streak, and depending on how my head and neck feel that day-Raptor and Mantis, but though Magnum is a little rougher than it used to be, and sometimes disappointingly slower, I can still ride it with no trouble. What seat did you ride in?

We have tried all over the car in the past three years when we went. We sat in the very front, the very back, the middle, both sides. Last year we rode it 4 times in a row to see if there was a spot that wasn't as bad on us! And we really didn't. It is too bad because it is my second favorite in the park and I just can't ride it anymore!

Come on guys, give the girl a break. It's not like her expectations were unreasonable. Vanilla custard from a custard stand? A blue Icee? The ride that she watched them building for an entire summer beforehand to be working by mid-August? This is pretty basic stuff! As such an established name in the industry, there's no reason the park shouldn't have been able to deliver here. Of course food stands run out of things, and obviously rides go down sometimes. There's nothing anyone can do about that. But the park's job is to make people happy, that's what people pay for when they walk through the gate. You can't please everyone, but the demands in this situation should have been easily fixed, and weren't.

I'm not enthusiastic about defending this girl (especially after that distasteful four-letter word rampage she just went on) but seriously, she's justified in her complaint.

Thank you. And i am sorry but people are too sensitive about words. They are just words. On an average day at Cedar Point you hear those words (and worse) over a dozen times. And you wouldn't believe what you hear in a middle and high school hallway, it would make sailors blush (I would know, I heard everything when I was doing my observations).

I don't understand why this site edits everything, most of the ones I use just edit the big 3...didn't realize people would find all of it offensive

So, would you prefer that the stands just close? Put up a sign "Sorry, we're out of raspberry. We have plenty of cherry, but people get pissy if we're out of raspberry."
.

That made me laugh out loud and it woke up my roommate, yea I know its noon and hes sleeping..o well.

Anyway, People run out of things. No one has a sheet that tells them how many people will be in that day and what they want or need. I work at a Chick Fil A where I go to school and just yesterday we had this problem. We got so swamped and had people stacked 10-15 deep the whole two hours i was working because we could gauge how many people would be there. Our friers would go down and horrible times and that added to the wait. It is a fact of life, no one is perfect and people make mistakes or mis judge things .

Good Day and Good Night

I never said I was offended, I said it was distasteful. Using inappropriate language like that isn't going to help your argument. There is a time and place for it, and this is neither. Nothing to get bent out of shape over. People just tend to respect opinions more with tactful diction.

Going to any park for the purpose of riding one thing is always setting yourself up for disappointment.

And for the record, Mine Ride stops on the second lift any time they stack trains. That's just the way it's blocked now.

How did you not get what you paid for? You paid for 1 ticket, which gains you 1 admission to the park, correct? I believe you were granted admission to the park for the entire day. You even had the freedom to leave and come back. I would say that you got what you paid for.

So what one ride was down. It happens. What Jeff said above ^

Waaaaaaaaa

I'm sorry, but it's not exactly news that Maverick has had mechanical problems this year. If you don't want to "shell out $40" for the park if the ride isn't gonna be open, then wait until next season when Maverick runs more reliably. Look at TTD. Its opening year was god-awful, but now it runs immensely better. Quit your crabbing and make the best of your visit.

Oh my god.If you are pissed because they ran out of your favorite custard or your ride on Magnum was rough or you will only be able to go to Cp three times that is really sad. There are millions of children that will never get a chance to go to Cedar Point let alone even eat any flavor of custard. You should be thankful you have the freedom to go to Cedar Point and run out of custard while others are dying for the right for you to have a choice of custard.I am Canadian and I even take my hat off when the American national anthem plays because I am so lucky to even be able to stand on the ground people are giving there life for never mind eat custard or ride on a rough magnum which would be the best coaster in my country.Ok nuff said.

Don't give me that you should be thankful crap. Just like the oh you should be so thankful you have food on the table at all...I work hard to get where I am so I can afford this stuff and I expect that it will be right when I go.

And if you are so grateful for America you move here, you seem more proud of it than most of us are

ETA-the Mine Ride was actually down yesterday. There was a CP worker talking to teh people on that ride and at the line the person was saqying it would be down for a little *** Edited 8/18/2007 8:38:25 PM UTC by Caitie***

If they setup they have to have someone come reset the ride, I believe. Maybe that's changed recently.

He only speaks the truth.

Rides go down, it's just a part of life. But the two food issues are different.

Icees- The machines defrosts itself once every couple hours. during this time you can't serve anything because it's water. But you could have gotten a blue icee at 5 other stand just in the front of the park. Plus when it's really hot out, the machines cant keep up with demand.

Custard- somebody screwed up! There is still plenty of warm weather left and not having vanilla is wrong. The custard is kept frozen and needs to be thawed out. My guess is that step was missed. Or someone forgot to refill the machine and it froze up inside. This problem can only be fixed by defrosting. That happens alot when it's busy.

Both issues are normal and most of the time can't be avoided. But that's why they offer the same item's at many locations.

This is why I like Disney more. If Space Mountain is unexpectedly closed, they give out fastpasses to another ride.

If a food is out at a stand, you get something else for less or even free.

And both of these things have happened to me or friends of mine. Cedar POint is not as good at remembering that we are guests

bholcomb's avatar

Why do you deserve something for less or free just because they ran out of what you wanted? It happens.

And what would be the point of giving everyone a fast pass on another coaster if Maverick was down? What, do you just keep going up to the entrance and getting a free pass? What good is a fast pass if 1000's of people in the park have them? So you can cut in line to wait in a long line for fast pass?

Holy crap. How did I miss this?

I don't even know where to start, so I'm just going to quit while you're ahead.
