$3 soda = criminal

If I ever got pop, I get it at a food stand. I'll only buy water from the vending machines if the food lines are long for free water, or if I'm REALLY thirsty!

ENJOY THE REST OF YOUR DAY HERE AT CEDAR POINT...AMERICA'S ROCKIN ROLLER COAST. *CLEAR*

Believe me, there will be some people on a 90 degree July day pour all kinds of money into the machines in the MF, Raptor, and Magnum lines. Are the candy machine prices the same?

How soon before they put credit card swipes on the sides of these things? Might actually work quicker than trying to get the picky thing to take 3 $1 bills or 12 quarters...

Ohio, so many coasters...
...so little summertime!

Hey, all the money is going towards the park you love!

How soon before they put credit card swipes on the sides of these things?

Hahaha...already done! Some parks have already begun experimenting with machines with credit card swipes on them.

"Whose bright idea was it to get him talking about Cedar Point?!"

I remmember last yea the park opened with machines costing $2.50 by the end of June they were down to $2.00, let's hope we see something like this this year.

First CP Coaster: Corkscrew
MF Laps: 27
Wicked Twists: 2

I will agree that $3.00 is criminal. I won't buy any until the price is lowered.

On the bright side of vending machines for the new season they add Resses Cups in the magnum candy machine.

Getting back to the $8 parking (also criminal), I'm not sure about the effect of going from $7 to $8...but when they went from $5 to $6 it had a TREMENDOUS effect on parking pass holders. When parking was $5, there was never a traffic jam on the Causeway; the day after they went to $6, it took me 40 minutes to get to the tollbooth.

You'd better believe I lodged a complaint that day!

Has anyone written CP about this? Should we all and mention we're from GTTP or would that be a bad idea (I mean constructive critisim from true CP fans) ?

That's just ridiculous! I remember seeing a lot of people turn away from buying pop last year, but 3? That's just insane! They are really going to see a sharp drop in pop sales, I don't care how hot it is out. When will they learn that $2 is the point where people will buy pop and go on their way. Anything more and people start getting upset.
I think they are raising the parking costs and pop costs to compensate for a certain new attraction next year. If they kept the pop down, they would sell more and make more money

Snoopy Rocks! On Ice starts June 22--Do you think they'll let me drive the Zamboni machine?

I want to drive the Zamboni!

BeemanCP65, The candy machines are still just a dollar. The candy bars in the Pagoda gift shop were 94 cents. I assume that they add tax to that to bring the price to an even dollar.
CP reads this stuff. We saw Bill Spehn in Disaster Transport yesterday and he asked how we liked the ride and mentioned something about reading GTTP. So park ops hears our voice! :) I don't think they set soda prices, but they hear what we say about operations. I think I saw one person buying something out of the machines all day yesterday. The lines were pretty short, but still, there used to be more than that. They're not going to boost the per capita spending on soda!

There was one person who paid $3 for a bottle of water as I waited in line for Magnum. This person then handed his bottle to his girl friend who used it to take a shower to cool off. As for the parking, this is my first year with a parking pass and am glad that I can now cruise on by the toll booth with out being ripped off.

Not only is Disney parking still $6, but you get a tram ride to the gates as opposed to the walk at CP. But I digress, $3 for pop? Someone needs a kick in the butt. Holiday World is giving it away for free and CP is charging $3 for a bottle.

I have defended CP hundreds of times but this is just embarassing.

Agreed - GTTP is about as pro-CP as it gets so if we are griping about things, maybe they'll take it seriously. We can only hope. Three major issues opening day: state of Magnum's trains, state of MF's missing train (we know that will be fixed), spiel and station music, and soda (okay fine, pop!) prices. :)

It's good to see that the park's biggest fans aren't too blinded with love to criticize fairly.

Don't worry, lots of people read this. Heck, some people have even been asked not to post here.

3 bucks! I don't think so. 2dollars was pushing it but 3 bucks is like 300% markup on that!!! I'll stick to free water even if I have to wait in line for 20 minutes.

"WE HAVE ANOTHER CHOICE PRIZE WINNER"

Disney parking is $6 up from $5 a couple years ago. This pays for parking, the tram to the ticketing center and then a boat ride or monorail to the parks. A deal I'd say.

CP raising the parking is a big deal. Kind of Six Flags-ish. People are stuck paying the price.

The pop is ridiculous. I doubt that they are going to make more money with the pop price increase. At $2 they would sell much more soda (I had to say that for foriegners). I could live with a price increase, but a 50% increase in price over the year is a lot, and paying 300% for a bottle of Coke compared to what you would pay in a store is ridiculous. On a hot day you are better off keeping a cooler in your car, spending the 5 or so dollars for a case of pop and be set for the whole day. A short walk to your car will save you a lot of money. A case of Coke (I'm no math person) is 24 cans at 12 oz. a can totalling 288 ounces. To get 288 ounces from the 20 oz. bottles you would need 14.4 bottles of pop. That would cost you $43.20 for the same amount of pop.

Now that $3.00 seems even more ridiculous.

I know the money goes to the park, but I would rather throw my money away on souvenirs, clothing, park food, games, etc, not on a soda.

And they definitely get a cheaper cost for their soda compared to what you pay, so their profits are actually more.

I recalculated the above to be a 20 oz. bottle. My original post said 16 oz. bottles, and that would be showing my age that I remember the old returnable bottles.

Most of you are more willing than myself. I would never pay $2 let alone $3 for a 20oz. Plus I never purchase pop at the point anyway, WATER is the way to go.
