2016 Cedar Point Coaster Tourney

It’s back—following an eventful 2016 season, my Cedar Point Coaster Tourney has returned for a second running!

For all newcomers, this is a forum game that I did during the last offseason. In it, I set up a tournament bracket featuring fourteen roller coasters from Cedar Point. For each matchup, I would post a link to a straw poll in which users could vote for which coaster they thought should move on to the next round until one coaster remained. It was a lot of fun, and I’ve been looking forward to doing it again for the duration of the 2016 season.

This time around, I’ve made a few changes. While the 2015 Tourney used a single-elimination bracket, I’ve decided to spice things up by introducing a double-elimination bracket for 2016. That way, even coasters that are eliminated early on can still have a chance to make it far into the tournament. Also, by popular demand at the end of the 2015 Tourney, I’ve added four new coasters to the competition: the family coasters Pipe Scream and Woodstock Express, the kiddie coaster Wilderness Run, and last—but not least—the brand-new Valravn.

As a reminder, here’s how the coasters will be seeded, based on their performances during the 2015 Tourney:

Here’s how this will work: I’ve created this tournament bracket on Challonge. I will post a list of the matchups below, and with them, links to each straw poll, where you can vote. I will give you a total of 72 hours to vote in each poll; after which, I will close it and a winner of that match will be declared. In the event that a poll is tied when its deadline hits, I will extend that deadline by an additional 24 hours to let you guys break the tie.

The first batch of polls have closed. Woodstock Express and Valravn have passed the preliminary round, while Blue Streak and Top Thrill Dragster have advanced to Round 2!

EDIT: I think I might see what you mean...when I tried voting for random polls on the site (not my own), the results page wouldn't count my vote at first. But after refreshing the page, my vote showed up.

You shouldn't have to. Heck, I created the polls without having to register.

I dunno what's up. If I click on my choice in a bracket a little magnifying glass pops up. If I click that it opens a smaller window that says Match Details and shows the 2 coasters in that bracket, both with a "-" dash underneath. I assume this should be a vote counter? Does it matter that I'm on an iPhone? Maybe I'll try to vote on a Windows computer later on. I don't see where I prove I'm not a robot.

^ If I'm understanding you correctly, it seems like you tried to vote on the Challonge site. That doesn't work; you have to use the sites I linked in my original post.

Ah. I was using the main link that shows the bracket... But when I click those links it says "Safari cannot open the page because the internet connection was lost". But any other link or web page works. Oh well. As evidenced by the presidential election, my vote probably doesn't count anyway... **DUCKS**
