2013: Best Food Values

What is the cedar point meal deal thing you can buy at the fass pass places. is it like all you can eat or is it just one full meal, if so thats not really a good deal.
I think this weekend i will just be doing the panic thing. unless someone tells me not to

Lurker/new member here. We went to game day grill and split a nacho platter between 3 people and were stuffed! We don't like to fill up too much when riding all day but it was the perfect amount. Yeah, they were something like $11 but for lunch for 3, it was perfect.

Just wanted to clarify that you are simply listing this as a place you eat, not specifically that it is a good value.

Because I had lunch there on Ohio State Day and there were no thoughts of value after paying $15.10 for this. :)

My wife printed the Platinum deals on a two sided card, laminated it and it fits in the front pocket of my cargo pants. Lists all the deals: Food, Merch and entertainment. She did it in MS-Word and put the store names bolded and in colors based on the above categories. Just a bit anal retentive but it worked really well.

I keep the Platinum Pass deals on a document in Google Drive on my phone, with the document made available off-line. That way I don't need to access the website and internet connectivity does not matter.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Does it make the deals suck less? :)

Had to chime in here. A consistent value for us is Game Day Grille by far. We can eat for 4 people for $40. The Cheesesteaks aren't bad. Some of Midway Market's food is OK but not a value and the kids' buffet sucks IMKO. Famous Dave's food is GREAT (went there again opening day), by far the tastiest in the park (get the feast for 2!), but not an overall price value (depends on what you get I guess). I will say I did try some places for snacks I've shied away from in past years because of the Platinum pass perks this year including Dragon's Inn (buy 2 corn dogs/get 2 free drinks...by CP/LE front station) and Gazebo (buy 2 Pretzels/get 2 free drinks). I will try the buy a fry and get a free fry and 2 drinks offer in June.
We also printed out the platinum perks to show some of the cashiers/ they definitely don't advertise them. Also we noticed a big spike in food prices this year to cover the "perks". $12.95 for a Macho Nacho? insane!

The Brisket at Daves kicks some serious butt! I usually order a double hit on the meat when i get that, plus the corn muffins are good too!

Those Cheesesteaks are a "heart attack on a bun".

If the FDA ever mandates that the park has to post the health stats of what they server at most of the locations (like they do in many establishments voluntarily today), people are going to freak.

And to think Bloomberg in NYC just wants to eliminate those big soda's! They are likely one of the least offending items in the entire park.

Still being in "old fart" mode. Used to like going to the Marina Steakhouse for lunch. Little break from the commotion of the park. Sit down and served. Real plates and silverware, decent prices/food/portions at least at lunch (never did dinner.)

Sounds like the current restaurant at that location is fine, but I miss the having steakhouse option.

You aren't kidding about that brisket! That's my favorite part about Famous Dave's. Sadly, my mouth is watering over here just thinking about it while I'm at work!

Clearly you guys have never had really good Brisket. Famous Dave's is average at best. Being a Smoked meat aficionado I have spent my life searching out fine smoked meats.

Having said that, it is still my favorite place to eat at the point and while Famous Dave's doesn't rank anywhere near the top of fine BBQ joints, it is mighty great food compared to the rest of your choices. The Feast for two works out well for my wife and I. The corn bread is delicious.

Don't forget the parking discount if you paid for parking, that makes it all the sweeter place to eat.

How is the restaurant that replaced the steak house? I have never ventured inside, are they open for lunch as well as dinner?

Will the Breakers Hotel shuttle you over and back to the marina for dinner?

Famous Dave's IS the restaurant that replaced the Marina Steakhouse. That place was a great old school Cedar Point joint. Even had a dance floor for some night time entertainment. My mon and dad used to go their all the time when I was a kid and hang out with their boating buddies.

OK, then what is the other restaurant there with Famous Dave's? Is it any good and are they open for lunch or just dinner?

Don't forget about The Boathouse.

The other restaurant in the marina is Bay Harbor.

OK, now I can never be blamed again for starting threads that make absolutely no sense. Seriously, it would be easier to find a glass of ice water in the Sahara than value on food inside the park.

Just to play along, I would have to say it would be something like the Funnel Cakes or Elephant Ears. Prices seem to be comparable to most county fairs or festivals. There are not a lot of other places that offer these tasty treats as regular menu items so we don't realize how much we are spending on a fried pieces of dough covered in sugar. The Elephant Ears can be fairly large sometimes.

An I the only one who sees the irony in the threads like this one (free fries, delicious brisket, and elephant ears) and other threads about seat belt size, losing weight, and test seats not accurately representing actual ride seats?

And they say our country has an obesity problem?

As someone who really tries to eat healthy, reading this thread has made it much more obvious why we smuggle food in the bottom of the stroller rather than buy food in the park.

I laughed out loud at the title of this thread.

I'm not sure what else to say...the food is at CP is simply not good. I'm more than willing to pay amusement park prices for food that's worth it, but CP just isn't in my opinion.

That said, we certainly don't visit CP for the food, but it would be nice to be able to look forward to something. Maybe there is a hidden gem in the park?

We just hold out till the end of the day (feeding ourselves and the kids from the baby-jogger) and dive into Chet & Matt's at the hotel. As the kids get older we'll see.

Were making our first trip to Disney next Spring, and I have a feeling my attitude towards CP's food will only become more dismal. I guess I've just become habituated over the past decade or so to not even factor it in to our thought process....we actually plan around eating at the park.

When I go to Cedar Point I indulge in chili-cheese fries. It's my once a year indulgence. But otherwise...

Aside from my last visit to the park, when I had lunch at T.G.I. Friday's as a welcome respite from hanging out with parents, I never have an actual meal at the park. The value's just not there, when there's such good food at Marconi's, Quaker Steak and other restaurants on the mainland.

I went to Disney a few months back, and I will say their food is a lot better for the price than Cedar Point's, that being said, that's really the only aspect in my eyes Disney beats Cedar Point
