2013: Best Food Values

We used to eat at the park quite a lot in the 90's. It was expensive, but not to the point of being prohibitive.

Do keep inflation in mind when making that comparison. Something that cost $5 in 1992 would cost you over $8 today.

Cedar Point wants $30 just for the pizza.

Where are they charging $30 for a pizza?

FTR, the cost of consumable goods or services doesn't necessarily match the rate of inflation. If it did, I wouldn't be able to buy a 32" television for 1/5th the price of what one would have circa 1990. Same goes the cost of visiting amusement parks. Someone over on Miceage or Mouseplanet or one of those hyper-crazy Disney showed the increase in prices vs. inflation over the last decade. Cedar Point is shockingly stable in the face of inflation comparatively, all things considered. Well, maybe except parking charges, but whatever.

Since when is a TV considered a consumable good? :)

Brandon

You know what I'm saying. The price of goods also depends on competition in the marketplace, cost of manufacturing, blah blah blah. Just because any business has raised prices doesn't necessarily have anything to do with inflation whatsoever.

The nachos my husband checked on and did not buy were $9. Back in the 90's they were somewhere around $3. That's 3 times more. The cost of admissions and passes is not 3 times more so there's more than just inflation involved. Maybe they have upped the food prices to keep the admission price lower.

The more likely explanation is that they raised the price because people still purchase them at the higher price.

If you want good food that is cheap, get meat, cheese and bread at the Walmart on Milan Road and make a sandwich. just that simple. :)

I've visited CP 7 times so far this year. Brought my own food every time.

It's been PB&J, on sale lunchables, gatorade and snacks from Aldi for us.

The walking tacos are pretty good and reasonably priced. They are big enough to be split. I will NEVER eat at the TGI Friday's in Breaker's again. Worst service I have ever had, luckily when we were there we got our meal comped because the service was that bad.

I was . . . gobsmacked by the food prices this year. Between that and the infuriating Fast Lane policies, it really took a sheen off the visit. And I'm a guy who loves, loves, loves me some Cedar Point.

I don't expect the food to be cheap, but good-ness.

Another reason you can't is if the park is busy, more than likely your phone will brick. At least it does on Verizon. I can always tell how busy the park is by my iPhone's internet speed (or lack of connectivity completely).

What I don't like about some deals, like the fry deal for example, is they are often not good if you are by yourself. Seriously, who's going to eat two orders of fries and two soft drinks by themselves? I'll tell you who -- the same person that puked said fries on Gatekeeper on Media Day. Train 2, Row 4. Saw the fries all over the final brake run before the station.

Well, I have had the fry deal all to myself, ONCE. I didn't finish ALL the fries, but ate the majority of them by myself. THEN went on Wicked Twister afterwards with not a problem at all.

My neighbors and I buy Platinum Passes every year, so we go often. We bought the souvenir Gatekeeper cups at the beginning of the season, and if you are going to the park more than once (and even just once on a hot day), that is a great deal. You get free refills all day the day you buy it and $0.99 ($1.05 with tax) the rest of the season. Way better than buying drinks at $3 a pop several times over the course of the day (and usually a smaller size).

We also like the Gameday Grille and the Road Trip truck. Good food and at GDG, the cost for all 3 of us was around $30. As far as the Platinum Perks, we really like the cookies deal at CJs Provisions.
