I'm curious MichiganRollerCoast - what parts of Millennium Force (besides the extra 79' of drop) make it so superior to S:ROS? And if you find MF boring, what does that make S:ROS?

Not 'dissing your opinon - I'd just like to know what I'm apparently missing.

But a new coaster didn't beat it. One that has never beat Millie, and opened the year it did, beat it. Illogical I say. If we're going to let rides that have been around a few years suddenly bounce to the top, just put Magnum up there, or Raptor.

Very disappointing 1st place I say. There's even two other coasters with the exact same name, I mean come on.

Hmm, I wasn't aware of this. I stand corrected. :-P Maybe I shouldn't have read the awards late at night while very tired, but then again, in 2003, I wasn't aware of the Golden Ticket Awards, and I'd never been to Cedar Point either. o_o

I still don't like the results though. :-P

I can't beleieve how amazingly screwed up the Golden ticket awards are nowadays. I mean, common, Thunderhead over ElToro or the Voyage?Good, God, Knock some sense into these people. Nitro (although a great ride) shouldn't even cme close to Expeditition Geforece! Nor, should Maggie! I know maggie's a classic and kickstarted the whole airtime craze, but You can't say that it's the best because it's a classic.

you want a real, unbiased poll, check out the Mitch Hawker Poll

^ Nope, we say its the best, well, because it is.

Cedar Point and MGM tied for best outdoor night production? Granted it's tied for fourth, but did Summer Spectacular ever place?

I was surprised to find out there were more than 3 shows nominated, and that was after I saw that CP took 4th.

Proof that Maggie deserves its award:

In 2000, Maggie gave 14% more rides than MF.
2001 9% more
2002 14% more
2003 10% more
2004 36% more
2005 34% more

:)

no, no, no, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I don't like maggie, and that it doesn't deserve a high spot, but it's just that so many more people have ridden it than EGF so therefore, it's going to get more votes.

Well, this poll is arguably the most visible, and thus the most likely to get people to vote. Its really a simple matter of the people's voice, and while you may not agree with it, that's the result.

As for Maggie having given more rides and therefore more votes... Well, to me, that logic is flawed. Just because a coaster has given more rides doesn't mean it will get more votes. Is Gemini on there? How about Raptor? Vortex?

How the hell its behind Dragster, I don't know, but it is on there.

Well, I meant "on there" to mean near or above EGF or Maggie, for instance.

And, yes, TTD over Raptor is enough to give one heartburn.

^ Apparently not. I heard TTD referred to as "the finger of Jesus" yesterday. That's beyond heartburn, to me.

More like the middle finger (not of Jesus).

Platinum has it's perks. So does living exactly 97.5 miles from King's Island and Cedar Point

It's cool to hear that Cedar Point earned 9 years in a row as far as best amusement park. Congratulations Cedar Point! Ride On!

All nine years of the GTA's, to be exact! :) I'm so happy!! Though I would've ranked Dragster as first, that's just me... Good to see her in the top ten though!

The two best coasters in the park took 2 and 3, I'm happy with that. I am also very slightly surprised by them getting the best park yet again. I honestly thought that with the current drop-off in some areas of operations and all the cost-cutting lately, that it would hurt them enough to bump them to #2. I guess the majority of the voters (midwest region) held with CP despite the recent downfalls.

I think the important thing to note is how much CP dominated the votes for best park. They had 38% of the votes, whereas the next closest park, Blackpool, only had 10%. I would consider that to be a blow out, nobody came close to CP. I'm not surprised considering how much things at the park improved for this season. If they could stay #1 through the last few years that they've had, they undoubtedly deserved it this year.
