I think its funny how they mention Best Food, Best Wooden Roller Coaster, and Best Amusement Park...

2 of the 3 CP never wins... the other one, they always win...

You must be hungry because they never mentioned "best food"

Thats certainly setting themselves up for some bad publicity if they get nothing! ;) Hopefully they will come away with best park again this year along with MF winning the title of best steel coaster. I've visited quite a few parks this year and I can truthfully say that CP and MF are still the best.

Thrills Around the Corner!

I say they'll definately win best park again this year.

It seems MF and S:RoS at SFNE are always in competition for best steel coaster, but I'm gonna go with my gut and say MF will take it home again.

The Golden Tickets are also the reason that I've thought for quite some time, that the announcement of the new coaster would come in August. You can't tell me it would hurt to announce the coaster and have CP in the news and on everyone's minds right around the time the awards come out. Just my opinion.

Maggie fans unite! Wouldn't it be a coup if an Arrow in its 17th season were to run away with the best steel coster? Not to much i guess since it still is (the best steel that is).

Are the Golden Ticket Awards going to be on TV anywhere? If so, what time?

DRose, I never thought about it like that. That is a good observation. If it were announced early enough they could even publish an ad in Amusement Today for their new coaster. Maybe next year!

I haven't been on S:RoS so I can't really comment on that (I can't believe something could be better than MF), but I will be interested to see how El Toro performs.

The Golden Tickets aren't televised. They are normally a smaller ceremony with park execs and some media. In 2004, they were held on the pad of cement where the overflow queues for MF go, just to the left of the final overbank. Not sure where they were held last year, and althought T&T didn't say for sure, Im guessing since they are in Indiana, that they will be at Holiday World this year... (can someone say best wooden coaster?)

Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004

We will be at Holiday World tomorrow. I'll have to wear my MF polo as a show of support. ;) After hearing how awesome it is I'm not sure we'll be able to stop riding The Voyage to go and see the awards happen though.

I betcha for best woodies, it's The voyage no.1, Eltoro no. 2 and Thunderhead no. 3 :) always fun to watch when they come out. I just wish that they really would go world-wide with the golden tickets, but, then again, expedition G-force would alwys take home the gold. :(

i just went to amusement today's web site and went to the 2005 golden tickets. pleasure beach in blackpool england was in there, and g-force was like number 6. so the do go world wide. *** Edited 8/26/2006 5:56:44 PM UTC by milleniumforcerocks***

Well the 2006 Golden Ticket awards have been announced. The good news? Cedar Point is still number 1. The bad news? Millennium Force is not. I was very surprised by this year's list. Everything seemed switched around from before. El Toro was nowhere to be found on the top ten. It received number 13. It seems Magnum rose to number three, and TTD fell to number 10. Raptor also fell to 14. Again, I was very surprised by this year's list.

Too bad about MF. I have to imagine some voters getting disqualified by the every tightening seatbelt restrictions could at least have something to do with that. Congrats to CP for crushing everyone else in the best park overall category.... again. :)

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Yes it is nice to see that CP beat out everyone for best park. After just visiting Islands of Adventure, I am very glad that was knocked down to 4th in the best park category. I thought it couldn't hold a candle to others, specifically CP. Its odd seeing Paramount rides listed with CF ads for the first time.

I was interested that kinda ka didn't even make the first page???

As glad as I am for the park to still have the title, I almost wonder if it might have "opened some eyes" with management if they hadn't been voted number one, if you know what I mean...

Yeah I was wondering that too.. It's pretty much the same as Dragster so why isn't it up there with Dragster? (I am a Dragster fan don't get me wrong.)

Also too bad about Millennium Force :( It's my favourite coaster ever. SF:ROS has lots and lots of airtime hills so that's probably why it can comepete with a a coaster so much faster and taller than itself.

I like how apparently Cedar Point is located in the "Magic Kingdom" for Best Halloween event.

And, it's nice to see Janice Witherow's name on a press release again.
