2003: Place Your Bets

Well, if they were wanting the undisputabale height, as everyone else is saying, then definately make it taller than 415'. I think we all heard enough "BUT" such and such is a coaster, "No it's not" ya da ya da ya da. I just hope, whatever it is, is not, in anyway, similar to MF. But i think its gonna have to have the overbanked turns. Need some loops on that island. I'm not gonna take a guess, but i am gonna sit back and enjoy everyones opinions on what it could be. Keep em' coming.

Does anyone think it's gonna be something different than an Intamin rocket coaster?

I think it will be a dark ride with some never-before-seen element.

Six Flags better than Cedar Point? I'll believe it when Raging Wolf Bobs flies...

I don’t think it’s going to be an Intamin rocket coaster. For the only reason that it would seem odd to build two launched coasters in back-to-back years.

The only type of coaster that makes sense to me is some type of junior coaster. CP has just about every other type (or some close variation). And making the park more attractive for families is always a good thing. But a junior coaster goes against the hints some people of been throwing around (unless our moderator is just playing a big joke on all of us :) )

My guess:
Intamin rocket coaster 300-350 ft, around 110mph. Launch area in Chaos area and tophat in "Area 51" location, a jump over the lagoon, then some hills/overbanked turns going towards Iron dragon and an intense helix to finish it off across from Corkscrew, with station where Troika is now located. The ride will be short (4800ft), but CP will reclaim tallest and fastest complete circuit coaster back! The only thing I hope for is some nice bunny hills for some much needed airtime.
Intamin Rocket Coaster, taller than S:TE (just to beat the record), faster than S:TE (yet again, just to beat the record, and probably somewhere around 6,000 feet long.

"It will be the shot thats heard around the world"

If it is like what Gemini joe predicts, I for one would be very pleased with the addition. A nice well-rounded launched ride with several elements, and some nice track footage too. Gotta love a tophat, overbanks, airtime hills, and a helix! :)

June 28th: LocoBazooka Tour (Sevendust headlining)
July 11th: Korn, Puddle of Mudd, and Deadsy

While I still want a flier, I do think it'd be cool to see launch parralleling the lagoons, then a tophat over the lagoon to get to the island.
I too still do want a flier but all the things ive heard it only makes sence that it would be a Rocket Coaster. I mean the dots by Troika and the stakes, Area 51 it all makes sence for a Intanim Rocket Coaster.

just a guess:

How about an Intamin Rocket coaster, not the tallest, launched into the worlds tallest inversion ~300 ft tall?

Ditto, i like the idea, maybe 4 inversions, 1or 2 hills, and a nice helix but still the fastest coaster record.

Hypersonic XLC- 17 seconds of ride....only 1.8 of which are fun

I'm going to go out on one of Jeff's recent comments. He said that if SFWoA doesn't build their hyper next year, then they might as well not even open becasue of the compitition. Now, how does a hyper compare to anything taller than 300 or 400ft.? If CP where going to build anything over 300 or 400ft., then I think Jeff, being the evil person he is, would say something like "Even if SFWoA would build their hyper, they still might as well not open next year." Honestly, how would a giga/terra compete with a hyper?

I think that they will build an Intamin Rocket Coaster that will launch into an overbanked turn, around 200ft., possibly banked more than 122*. Then it will go into a twisted array of hills, turns, and possibly inversions. A tophat is likely, but I don't really want to see one. If there is a tophat, then I think it will be less than 230ft. high.

Overall, I think the ride will probably be in the hyper range, around 80mph, and will be very twisted but still have some airtime. That's just what I want. It would be different but I think it would be fun. That's just my opinion. Enjoy.

If you like riding Wicked Twister in the back, does that mean you like to get screwed in the rear?

Do I get some sort of prize if I tell the answer?
Yes, you do. Now tell us. ;)

Well, that depends on the hyper, doesn't it? I know plenty of people who'd pick Six Flags New England's Superman over Millennium Force as a "favorite ride". Based on the feedback from friends who did the second week of the ACE European tour, Expedition GeForce fits the bill, too. So if Six Flags Worlds of Adventure were to get a hyper along those lines (and I'm praying they are, although some signs still point towards a Morgan), next year could be a very good year indeed for coaster nuts in and around the Ohio area.

As for what Cedar Point's getting, I don't know anything solid, but put me down for another person who's betting on a larger version of the Intamin rocket.

My bet is that they build a rocket coaster that launches the car into a diving loop (100-200 feet) then launches again (faster) into a top hat of extreme height (250-450 feet). Not only will the ride be cool, it'd be fun. Some more elements can be thrown in as well (mid ride helix, heartline twist, overbanked turns...). Also, the ride will go onto the island and across the midway a couple times.

My two cents: An Intamin Rocket Coaster of great height with possible inversions.

So what's better; skydiving or riding in Raptor's front seat?

Well, since Screamscape is reporting an Intamin Rocket Coaster I would have to say it's anything but that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but screamscape is wrong most of the time??
Screamscape has some good sources and some bad ones. I think he prints just about any rumor he receives. Thus, he is crying wolf a lot if you know what I mean.

He has been on target with some Cedar Fair rumors in the past but I don't think he has an exclusive scoop.

I would tend to believe Jeff over Screamscape.
