??? Capacity

For those of you who have seen the videos, pause it and count the number of cars on the train, and compare it to this picture

It works out, there are 5 cars on the train. The video just makes it look weird.

Count the cars on the trains, 5 each. :) ...You got me scared for a second there.

Yeah...I don't think any cars are missing. Maybe you might want to look at it again.
I watched the video very close and it appears that only four cars are on the train. This could be part of the testing process, maybe they modified one or two trains to break in the launch system with less weight, or they could be having a problem and the launch system doesn't launch as heavy of a train as they wanted, or it could be and optical issue with the camera.
I counted the cars and only see 4. I only see 2 middle cars instead of 3.

The train in the video is definitely missing one of the cars. Like coaster freak said, it is probably for testing purposes or maybe there is a big problem. I can tell you the answer on May 4th.
That is the same thing that i saw! 2 Center 4 passenger cars and 2 two seat cars at the front and the rear. Where is the the other 4 passanger center car? If the ride ends up only seating 12 passangers the ride capacity will be decreased by 25%! That would suck!
The Dragster wheels are on that train and those can only be put on the back car. I think its just a visual problem. The camera makes it seem like there is 4.

Ok, so the wheels are on the back car. It's missing a middle car not the back car. It has nothing to do with a camera.

I believe it would be possible to remove a center car from the dragster and it would still function. The wheels are located inbetween the cars after the first car, thus the first car has front and back wheels, then the next car shares the back wheels of the front car and then has it's own back wheels, then the next car shares those wheels and so on... until the last car that is like the front car but only backwords, so why couldn't you remove a car from this type of setup?

I can only count 6 rows of headrests. The train is missing a middle car of 2 rows(4 seats). Does anyone know how to grab an image from a mpeg video?

Yes, you can pull on of the middle cars out because the trains are articulated (sp?). Here is a good pic of the end of the train and the joints that hold them together.

There are only four cars on those trains, however I think it may just be because they are testing at lower speeds. Maybe they are working their way up to 5 cars.

Wow, this is a little disturbing. Anyone have any more info on this? I hope this isn't going to be an interim solution for bug fixing or something along those lines. Can you imagine the long waits with the decreased capacity?

you all worry too much. They'll be ready.
This thread reminds me of how much people worried when Xcelerator's initial train for the pull through had 3 cars. Don't loose sleep over this.

BTW, I'm wondering if ttd will actually meet the capacity estimates. Intamin said that Xcelerator gets 1330pph capacity, but if you've ever seen how the ride cycles (ie train 2not entering for a few unneeded seconds after train 1 launch), you'd know that even with lightening fast crews, the ride can't pull much higher than 850pph. Right now at 1 train (other train is in rehab- and finally getting reassembled) and the 62 second cycle, its getting 500pph capacity. 700pph MAX when 2 trains are running.

It really depends on how long it takes for the launch dog to go back to the launch position. Its about 40 seconds on Xcelerator, but TTD has a MUCH longer launch track.

what video are you talking about?

I think you're all over-reacting. You can't see anything in that video or count the cars.

Watch the rollback video. Without a doubt there are only 4 cars on that train.

You can see the blue train in the ground camera right now and there are clearly only four cars in the train.
Those who have seen the unofficial videos would probably agree that there are currently only four cars comprising the blue train. However, all of the official pictures show the other trains with all five cars attached. So there really isn't anything to be concerned about. This is just another phase of testing...
