Cedar Point Shores Policies

Get rid of those damn basketballs (or give them away uninflated), smoking and people walking 4 ( or more) abreast. Unattainable? Probably. But it's a good wish list.

Can I get an AMEN!

Uninflated basketballs with an inflate station at exits AND you're not allowed to bring them back in.

Sounds good to me- even make inflation a $5.00 upcharge (outside the gate).

Went to Cedar Point Shores last Friday for the first time this season (thanks mother nature!!). We love this water park, we live in Columbus and have the choice of Soak City at Kings Island or Cedar Point Shores and we love going to the shores.

My rub is the new bag policy that they are strictly enforcing now. If you have a beach bag or any bag with wheels you are not allowed to bring them into the park. What is frustrating about this policy is there was ZERO communication of this especially to season pass members which we have been for years now. The security person took one look at our bag and at first said "you cannot bring that cooler in here". We replied "this is not a cooler but a beach bag with towels and our sunscreen in it." Told them they are more than welcome to search the bag to verify that we had nothing in there that was not permitted in the park. The security person nastily said "does not matter it has wheels and is not allowed in here". So back tot he car we went and had to hand carry all the loose items into the park which was a pain.

To me this is a stupid policy, coolers I understand even though I may not agree with since they over charge for food in the park ($9 for a 6" long sub at Subway!) but that policy has been there for years and I understand where they are coming from with that.

We were't the only ones that were turned away, a lot of people were and they were all just as pissed as we were. What's next? You can't bring your own sunscreen in? I see no harm in bringing in a bag with wheels in, they can search it all they want, I've got nothing to hide and I am not "sneaking" in contraband. With a family of 5 you have quit a bit of stuff to lug into the park.

Last, smokers...We were sitting in an area over by the pool that has the leap frog pads and such and smelled cigarette smoke, we turned around and noticed a women just puffing away. We were down stream so we got the blunt of it. We told a lifeguard and they sent a supervisor over to tell her to put it out or go over to the designated smoking section outside the bathrooms. She put the cigarette out but not more that 30 minutes later lit another cancer stick up and started puffing away. We notified the guard again and they sent a supervisor over again to tell her to cut it out. To me I think the policy should be you get warned once if we have to tell you again you will be escorted out of the park. I mean come on you are a grown adult and need to follow the rules put in place. Everyone should not have to smell your stink of the cancer stick you juts can't put down. Have some consideration of others.

That was my latest experience, love Cedar Point Shores, Cedar Point does a nice job keeping it pristine, to me it's one of the best water parks around, just has a policy or two that need to be addressed.

Go to a garage sale and buy a used baby stroller along with a lifelike doll. Cover the doll with a towel and pile the rest of your stuff in....

I guess I could sneak vodka in via the water bottle route, but I'm in no mood to get a permanent ban. I'll keep the ball in the fairway. Besides, if I really want a beer I can go out to my car.

It crossed my mind!

Get a beach bag, fill with clean clothing, stash food in between clothing. Place gross,ratty-looking, stained undergarments on top and possibly a few open condoms. Pass through security. Enjoy your economical lunch at the OG Soak City.

They were super thorough going through our stuff Tuesday they even were looking inside wallets which I've never seen them do before. I wonder with the no wheeled bags thing what happens when someone with mobility issues shows up at the gate with a backpack or other bag with wheels or a bag in one of those small collapsible carts because they genuinely can't carry a regular beach bag safely? I really don't get the wheels issue why it's a problem. Of course I don't get why they felt the need to open my wallet either mine and my son's and the woman behind us.

^ seems like overkill. Only places I’ve seen go through wallets are music festivals and at that point they are looking for drugs.

Hold up, they went through your wallet?

About the mobility issues and wheeled bags, I think there would probably be an exception for those people at least.

Yes, they opened the little Velcro bag that holds my cards, a little money and my car key it's only the size of a credit card I thought OK not an "official" wallet they may not have realized that's what it was but then they went through my son's wallet which is just an average wallet and they went through the wallet of the woman in line behind us which was very obviously a wallet. I had never seen them do that before. Reminded me of when they were wanding people a few years ago to get in the park and they made me empty every pocket on to the ground.

I would hope there would be an exception for people with mobility problems although personally I think any time there are more small children than there are adults in a group that is a mobility problem.

I was at Cedar Point Shores today and kept my wallet in my pocket. The lady security guard never even asked if I had one. But the two ladies ahead of me had a diaper bag and the other a backpack. She opened every zipper and pocket. At one point I thought she was going to empty the contents on the table. When she put her hand in the diaper bag I heard the man behind me say, "I hope its a sh**ty diaper!"

I had my wallet out to go through the metal detector because my van key was in it and that would have set it off and my son had some coins in his. Mine is only the size of a credit card and the thickness of the key fob so I don't know what they thought they were going to find in there.

Smoking is so taboo. I don’t smoke and it offends even me when humans get in this “cancer stick” hate wagon. ... The smell of a cigarette burning, outside, so epically offensive lol. I highly recommend you not walk around the streets and parks of Toronto.

I will get on the cancer stick wagon. Want me to be pumping chemo in your veins because you end up with second hand smoke induced lung cancer?
In addition, I have asthma attacks after breathing it even in small amounts! I have to carry an inhaler on me everywhere JUST to deal with possible exposure to secondhand smoke. Then I have to deal with the side effects of the steroids all day & will STILL be hacking away.

It took FAR to long to put smoking bans in place. This habit affects others. Not fair & now thankfully against policies.

Those that smoke should be thankful they even have designated areas. Many businesses/facilities are completely smoke free. As in flat out won’t hire a smoker.
That all being said, I completely understand & sympathize with any addiction & refer people to smoking cessation programs all the time. Nicotine in any form is very addictive so I realize they are craving a cigarette.
But if their told once & continue to break the rule, kick them out of the park. Once you’ve been busted, you’ve shown you couldn’t care less what the park policy is.

I’m old enough to remember when smoking was everywhere and I HATED it. I agree that smokers should smoke in their designated areas but I’m not so afflicted when I catch a scent outside. In a strange way, when I smell cigarette smoke specifically at a swimming pool it rushes me back to five-years-old at the local community pool with the vivid smells of fresh cut fries overloaded with ketchup and heavy cigarette smoke. Such warm memories.

Smoking affects others? So does driving a car with all the pollution they put out. Should we ban cars too since car exhaust also causes cancer? Alcohol also affects others. That's not fair and we should ban that too. I bet there's more of a chance someone is killed or injured from a drunk driver leaving the park, than someone dying from secondhand smoke at the park.

The point is, you probably shouldn't look down your nose at smokers when you more than likely do worse things to harm the environment and others around you all the time.

Even though you think I should be forced to inhale your foul and obnoxious second-hand smoke, as a cancer survivor (who never smoked), I really hope you don't end up with lung, tongue, or throat cancer, or COPD. Keep it to yourself. I hope someday they ban cancer sticks entirely!

At the main entrance on 7-15 I put my fanny pack into the box. The girl opened both zippered pouches and touched and moved each item in there. She actually even picked up my bottle of Purel and held it up to the sunlight -- like she was trying to verify it was real or something. When she got to my wallet she completely unzipped it and checked the main flap/compartment, and then also unzipped the coin slot. Meanwhile, in the next lane over, a man in his 20's had put his keys and phone in the box, but he still set off the alarms when he went through. That person said to him "You're fine." I'm not understanding this.

No one is going to die in the park because of second hand smoke. But second hand smoke can aggravate existing conditions.

Speaking for myself, I don't lean over the back of cars to inhale the exhaust. Nor do I stay close to someone who is clearly drunk.

It's a question of proximity: when you choose to smoke around other people, particularly in an enclosed space like a line for a ride or a space outside of designated smoking areas, you're inflicting your addiction on others.

The point is, you probably shouldn't look down your nose at smokers when you more than likely do worse things to harm the environment and others around you all the time.

I can't speak for anyone else. I ride a bike instead of driving a car, for example. I work to minimize my impact on the environment.

And I will look down my nose at smokers who choose to light up next to me. They're inflicting their addiction on me.
