Can you please answer a few questions?

Hi Pointbuzz members.

I am heading to Cedar Point this weekend. I have a couple quick questions before I go so I created an account on this forum in hopes to receive some answers.

1. Are you able to purchase fast lane passes after you've already entered the park or do they need to be purchased at the front gate before you enter? Obviously my plan would be to not buy them unless I get into the park and the wait times start to become obnoxiously long.

2. I read somewhere that upon arriving to the park, there is a road you can take around to the back where you can enter near Magnum and have a quicker shot to the back of the park where Maverick is located. Is this true and if so, does the gate open at the same time? Is it less crowded than the front when entering?

3. If there are thunderstorms in the area, do they shut everything down? Are some rides still open? Will they run the coasters in the rain w/o lightning in the area?

Thanks in advance for any answers...can't wait to get there!

1. Yes, and this is probably the best option since you can see if the crowds make FastLane worth buying. There are several locations around the park.

2. Yes, take Perimeter Road back to the Soak City Parking lot. You can enter near Magnum and it's the closest entrance to Maverick and the back of the park. All gates open to the public at the same time. This gate is smaller and doesn't process the same number of people, however, this entrance should be less crowded than the front gate.

3. Cedar Point's rain policy is pretty strict. Lightning normally closes most coasters. Rain at Cedar Point closes most rides. If it starts raining, I recommend heading to Mean Streak since it's usually the quickest to open after rain. Not to mention this will be your last chance to ride! Not sure if it'll be open when you attend :/ Otherwise, if it starts to rain, expect most coasters to close-if not all.

One thing to keep in mind about this weekend is that PointFest is happening so parking in the Soak City lot is going to be very limited.

Most coasters will run in some rain but they sometimes will take a train off so capacity is drastically reduced.

Thanks for the heads up. Is PointFest just on Saturday or the entire weekend?

Just Saturday, but the stage will be up all weekend in the soak city lot.

Ok gotcha...that makes sense. I'll probably just use the main entrance.

Another weather thing.. wind can and will shut many of the big attractions down.

I have a feeling that the park will be very busy this weekend. Saturday's looking inevitably wet so that may play crowd control to an extent. Fast Lane might be a wise investment if attractions such as Maverick and Valravn are on your must do list with large crowds.

Enjoy!

Thanks August. Yes Saturday is not looking good at all! We'll be getting in Friday afternoon. I want to go to the park 2 days and can do Fri, Sat, or Sun so was going to play it by ear. In your opinion would you recommend playing it safe and going Fri and Sun (skipping Sat) or should I take my chances and go Sat and Sun? I was thinking that the forecast might keep the crowds away on Sat and maybe get lucky with just a few scattered thunderstorms leaving plenty of ride time. On the other hand, if it pours all day long that would be a big waste of money. Any thoughts?

I would go Friday and Sunday, because even if it thunderstorms, a Saturday on halloweekends will be incredibly crowded.

I could only answer that question if I was in Sandusky on Saturday to make an educated guess. May your decision be easy.

Look at the weather radar early in the morning, if there is rain covering the entire northern half of Indiana moving east. . .

Remember that the Fast Pass sells out. It would be worth the price to purchase online as soon as possible. You won't be sorry.

We purchased our Fast Pass's and printed them out and went to the park. We presented our Fast Pass's to the idiot at the gate along with our regular admission purchased online. She told us that the Fast Pass was sold out. We tried to explain to her that we were one of those already sold. She just didn't understand and seemed not to give a crap. We had to go to the guest relations. A supervisor gave us our wrist bands and walked with us to that employee so she could set her straight. What a loser employee.

Why would you try to get your fast pass at the gate? The gate doesn't do anything with fast passes.

Folks like you are the guests CP employees (and all service industry folks) hate to deal with. What a dick way to talk about a human being you don't even know...

They also change the price as demand warrants. We went on Labor Day Sunday. I forget what the price was online, but FP+ in the park was $109 at 10:00 and $119 by 1:00. Whatever price it was online the day before was neither of those.

Something to think about.

To access the road that leads to the back of the park entrance/Perimeter Rd, follow the signs on the causeway for Resorts, Campers & RVs, Marina, and Motorcycles. It will be the furthest left lane. After you drive by Mean Streak (the HUGE wooden coaster), it will be the first turn to the left..
