The Giant Wheel. It was supposed to be the centerpiece of the Centennial celebration in 1970. Except someone forgot that there was a two year lead time on Schwarzkopf spectaculars during that era, thus the Spring '72 opening.

Windseeker, Shoot The Rapids, Maverick, and Dragster all missed opening with the park in recent years.

Dragster made it's opening day, however had massive down time but did technically operate that opening weekend. Not all seats could be filled, but still had the tires/engine on each train giving it a nice theme.

I still remember that day, I was there with my sister and we stayed in line for about 4 hours! people kept leaving and we never made it to the station. ride ops came and told us "I know most of you are in high school, and the park is about to close (8pm, sunday night) the ride will still be here next weekend...." so funny.
