I was thinking about what the park would look like in 10-50 years from now. So I am creating part 2 of my prediction posts. Rides that will be in the park forever. here's my list

1. Blue Streak

2. Magnum XL 200

3. Midway Carousel

4. Millennium Force

5.Top Thrill Dragster

Post your top 5 and/or comments on my list down below.

I know this is your prediction but anything could happen. In 50 years who knows if those rides will be around.

I think there's enough of these threads.

Forever is a long time... And, while I hate to say it (as you might deduce from my forum handle), I doubt Dragster will last 50 years. My guess is that ride costs a whole heck of a lot to operate, which might put it on the chopping block sooner than some of its more mechanically austere cousins.

The "forever" was a figure of speech.

The day they get rid of Magnum is the day the park can just sink into the lake for all I care.

Also, I don't think I could hate your username any more if I tried. :)

Better name for the thread would be what rides will still be here in say 50 or 100 years.

There is no way dragster will be there.

^ I could see them maybe replacing the current launch system maybe sometime in the distant future with something much easier to maintain such as a lsm or lim system.

Considering the amount of acceleration and force Dragster requires, I don't think LIM could do the job.

It couldn't currently. LIM currently does not have the power required to accelerate quick enough like a hydraulic launch system can. Maybe sometime in the future LIM will be able to accelerate as quickly as hydraulic currently can.

Considering LSM is being developed for use on aircraft carriers to launch jets, I'm certain it could be used to launch a roller coaster like Dragster.

Whether making such a change would be fiscally feasible is another question entirely.

^I was just thinking the same thing. A compressed air launch could work as well.

I could see Dragster being one of the coasters in the next 10-15 years getting completely revamped / overhauled.

A new launch system on dragster would be awesome. If you put a LSM launch on it, then it wouldn't have near the same amount of issues it does now. I think that would be a realistic move. I've always thought they should do that.

The only reason I would want an LSM launch on Dragster is if it can accelerate as quickly as a hydraulic launch can. The reason I personally love TTD is because of how fast it accelerates, not how fast it is. I have been on some LSM launch coasters, such as Superman: Escape from Krypton, and of course Maverick. Even going 100 MPH on Superman was no where near as intense as the launch on TTD. I know TTD is 20 mph faster, but it is just night and day difference on the intensity due to the hydraulic launch.

Same here, I wouldn't want the acceleration to go down. That would just ruin the ride.

Well, unless they went through the trouble of significantly lengthening the launch track, the launch would have to occur in about the same time frame as it does now.
