I was just looking at it, and there is this large thing (I don't know what it is) right in the air in the midway! Can anyone else who saw this tell me what it is?

I'm pretty sure those have been there for a couple weeks now. There probably using them to set up Luminosity.

To be more precise (just for the fun of it), those are JLG lifts. I had to operate a few of those (both engine and electric) earlier this year. The one in view on the webcam looks to be an engine powered 600 series. I can't image how many lifts there are in the park right now. Between painting Millennium, Blue Streak, setting up for Luminosity, and other pre season prep work, there's must be quite a few of them. I bet the rental companies are doing quite nicely right now. :)

Articulated/Boom lifts are fun to operate, especially a 100 foot model! Operating lifts in te park was always one of my favorite things to do. Doing so gave you a new perspective of the park and always a new location to take pictures from. :)

Better then being in a man-lift that is inside a building. Not much of a view at all to enjoy when doing that ;)

Heights don't usually bother me, but those things (especially the 100-plus footers) scare the bejesus outta me. And don't get me started talking about windy days....that will tighten a sphincter in a heatbeat....

Try hitting the side of a large steel structure fully extended. Not only will it do what you mentioned, but it'll leave your ears ringing for hours. Needless to say we were done for the day after that. :)

Or being 60 feet up trying to attach Christmas lights to a tree while the tree and your boom are swaying in the wind. I am not prone to motion sickness but it took me a bit to regain myself once I was back on the ground.

Looking at the webcam now, I wonder what is happening overnight on the midway. It is odd to see overnight work this far out from Opening day but something is happening because they have portable flood lights set up near the midway fountain.

Makes sense, given Ouimet's recent comments about finishing Luminosity on time:

"That will be a little bit of crunch time, but that show doesn't launch until the beginning of June, so I've got a little bit more time to work at night. But obviously when I open the park in May I don't want the consumer to see a lot of construction," Mr. Ouimet said.

I thought about that but I figure if there was an area that you wanted finished first or at least concentrated on it would be the stage area and the giant hole in the midway. I would think that the midway lighting would be something that is farther down the list.

Did they end up moving booth #1 today? Anybody know?

No, booth #1 is still there. There was a cement truck at the big hole this morning but there was no concrete poured so I don't know what was going on there.

I would imagion anything they have to go to tear up the midway for would be important to get done. didnt they say there would be in ground LED lights all up the midway? They can close off half of the Iron Dragon midway for safty while they finish the stage, that will probally be the last thing they finish.

In this case they might be redoing the fountain with lights and new programming to dance with the music from the show. That would be awsome!
