Old queue are for Power Tower?

When I was at the park this past Monday the 12, I noticed hole's in the ground next to Power Tower, that looked like there where metal poles there for a queue? And does anyone know what the queue area behind the restrooms next to Magnum was used for?

Surprisingly, the queue behind the bathrooms near Maggie were used for Maggie. :)

Not sure about the holes near PT's entrance though.

I remember there being lockers in that spot, right in front of Power Tower. Kind of wish they were still there, too.

Lockers, really? I have no memory of that.

Really. If it wasn't lockers, it was something with a blue fabric roof.

I always thought the holes were for temporary queue lines railings, for the opening season of Power Tower. The Post of the railings slid into those holes, and they could remove them when the line got shorter. It seems there are some by the Mantis sign too. -Or I am just dreaming again- :)

I don't remember the lines ever getting long enough for PT to use a temporary queue, but it doesn't mean it never happened. And yes, there were lockers there once upon a time.

Oh, good. I'm glad I wasn't imagining things.

Must have been just general purpose lockers, as I can't think of any nearby ride that would require the use of them. Then again, that area use to have lots of shade and a pond. It's hard to mentally picture the way it was before.

Oh that must have been a pretty long wait for Magnum, I do also remember seeing a concrete path leading to the far end of that,

Yes -- back in the day they used to start a temporary queue entrance for Magnum on that maintenance access gate driveway directly to the right of that black arrow on your pic and it wrapped up on queue lines that ran on a cement pad that runs parallel to the parameter road fence line directly behind the restroom building and hooked into Magnums regular queue for today at the back edge right before the 1st left you make when you walk into the regular queue entrance for Magnum today. (You can still see the old auxiliary queue pads behind the restroom building along the fence line in the pic pretty clearly.)

That was a very long wait back then for Magnum (over 2 hours sometimes) and I would skip it when I saw that they were using that auxiliary queue instead of the regular entrance.

There definitely used to be lockers in front of Power Tower. I don't remember if the shelves on the platform were always there, but if the ride opened without them, that would probably be the reason for having lockers there.

When I had my first ride on Magnum, I had to wait through every bit of Queue including the Auxiliary queue.

Thanks Skiboi007 for the info, yes that is the path that I was talking about. In that over head picture the tree's are covering the path. If I had thought of it I would have taken a picture of it. Back in June of 2001 I waited and hour for the Magnum, I think half the queue was filled up to.

Have the auxiliary Magnum queues been used in the past decade? I remember riding it in 1994, and the entire main queue was filled, with the line spilling out past the entrance, but I've never seen that portion of the line in action.

They used the auxiliary queues in 1994, but only when the park was really busy (like 4th of July and good weather July/ August weekends). They would wait for main queue to stay entirely fill up for a set period of time before they would get the axillary queue running. (They'd have to get a few ride hosts to walk the line on the midway back to the entrance for the auxiliary queue.) Heck I even remember them setting up temporary ropes/rails on that access gate driveway in front of the entrance path to the auxiliary queue behind the trees as a temporary auxiliary for the auxiliary queue and that being filled and seeing a line spill out of that down the midway to corkscrew in the early 90's. (That was was a crazy wait that I just would skip on those days.)
I was there a lot in the early / mid 90's and saw them using the auxiliary queues for Magnum till about 1997 season if my memory is serving me correctly.

I suspect they never had a need to use the auxiliary queue for Magnum after Millennium opened.

Sometimes it would have been nice to have it up in running on those crowded October weekends. The longest waited for Magnum was in 2005 or 2006 when the queue was an hour and fifteen minutes. The queue was totally filled and spilling down to the MPH board on TTD. It was so crowded. Even Mean Streaks overflow was almost filled.

I worked in the front midway games in 1989 the year Magnum opened and the line would sometime get up to kiddieland.
