Technical Question

Can I ask out of curiosity how much space in terms of MB or GB of information does Coasterbuzz or GTTP take up.

Member database/forums/web pages etc.... Or does POP Forums(TM) host the forum info for you?

Just a rough estimate please :)

And do you have a one dedicated server, or one for each site.

I own POP Forums... it's part of POP World Media, LLC.

The database is about 60MB, the site is something like 50MB.

The CoasterBuzz database is around 80MB, the site is about 15MB (since nearly everything is generated dynamically from the database and it doesn't have a database per se).

I have one dedicated server. Its details can be found in the about section.

Isn't it amazing how small those numbers seem these days? My first PC had a 10mb hard drive, and I thought I'd never fill it. I just ordered a new system with dual IBM 71gb drives.

It won't be long 'til they're making terabyte hard drives. Anybody that could fill that up needs to be smacked! :)

CP_bound, you just try doing DV-25 video streams. We've got a machine here at work for editing DV-25 video (25MBits/sec) with dual 18Gb media drives and the users are at each other's throats all the time trying to make room for more.

36Gb media storage and it isn't enough. You can never have too much disk space if you're doing video!

Does it use a Access database or a SQL database?? I would hope SQL because Access is limited to only 10 users at one time... ( something like that )

20 GB a Meg, WOW! Your server is very powerful.

20 GB a meg, wha? lol (Bryan pops in a dvd in his dvd drive while replying to a post on GTTP on his 800MHz PIII 40GB hard drive with a 1Mbyte/down 128K/up cable modem) :)
