You guys do realize that up until Maverick, every coaster at the park didn't start construction until late July (or later) and was open the next season right?

Not to mention that Maverick, unlike the site in question, is located conveniently along the park's perimeter.

So we should wait till mid july then and see if anything is happening?

I think that's what they're implying :)

Or mid-August. Or mid-September. Or mid-October. Or November.

The moral of this all being...be patient...they would not clear out a ton of trees just because they felt like it. Something is going on and sooner or later something will happen on the site. :)

While riding the train, I saw various metal beams sitting way back in the woods close to the clearing...

^^ - you are apparently unaware that Cedar Point management hates trees and will actually go out of their way to remove them from their sight.

I do also hope that it will be a coaster. There has been three big coasters announced already in other parks. Im hoping a Band M floorless, Or a dive coaster like the one that was just recently installed at Busch gardens in Va. It was a great ride! Its got to be a coaster so that Cedar Point Can keep up with the Jones.

CP doesn't "need to keep up with the Jones". While a coaster would be nice it's not a necessity.

Oh and good point Jugga. ;)

They have cut down the trees to build rafts to replace the paddle boats duh!! They are going Tom Sawyer on us all.

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

I think they are going to use the lumber from those trees for the inverted wood coaster111

Glad someone else thought that too, didn't want to say it and then get a bunch of people saying I was narrow minded. :)

Has anyone else seen these "metal beams"? Any ideas what they might be for? I cannot get out to the point till next week to look at them myself. If someone can get a pic that would be awesome.

Peace, Mikey

Here is a post I put up the other day. Although, it pertains to Cedar Point Jeff decided to close it. Which is fine. If you are at all interested in the possibilities of KD/CP coaster developments and similarities it's worth a look:)

http://pointbuzz.com/Forums/Thread/24276.aspx

While on the topic, I have not yet seen the beams (if any), but I'm going tomorrow. I guess I'll keep my eyes peeled.

As Mikeybo2004 has said, can anyone give any more details on this statement? The ellipse at the end is making me wonder about the validity of it. Sorry. :(

I just got back from going to Six Flags: Great America and rode their new family water ride called "Buccaneer Battle" and I would absolutely love if CP installed one of these. I don't think I have ever had as much fun on that ride than any other ride that I have been on. Its a slow moving boat ride where 8 riders (4 on one side, 4 on the other) face outward so that you ride sideways the entire ride. Each rider has a water gun that they operate by cranking their handle. The faster you crank, the quicker and farther the water shoots out. The track weaves back and forth so you "battle" other ships throughout the entire ride. There are also waterguns on the outsides of the ride so spectators can shoot at the boats, while the boats can shoot back.
Anyone else been on it yet? or would like to see CP install one?

That sounds really cool, but at CP...lake water...yuck. Before any one says it yes I know Thunder Cannon uses lake water, but still I wouldn't want to get lake water shot at me.
