Isn't SFMM challenging PKI's record for longest total trim brake length?

HA HA Bill. I think the Viper alone may challenge PKI's record. Now if only they got rid of the little bit of trims on MS, Mantis and Magnum. A perfect world?

Ok I agree with you on Mantis and Magnum. I might get some heat for this but I'll say it anyway. The Mean Streak is VERY slow almost to a crawl mid way. But, It needs the trims. It's a rough ride as it is now. Imagine it without the trims. Ouch!!! My back hurts just thinking about it.

What they realy need to do is buy a quart of oil for $1.99 at Pep Boys. Next time I ride in the front of MS ,I will oil the track for them. If this dose not work, lets all chip in and buy a decent set of rollling stock for MS. I still think a big problem is the lack of oil on the track. I have never heard a wooden coaster screech so much as the MS. We all know that the screaching sound is not caused by ghost, it is metal rubbing against metal. Maybee Sadam Hussian is holding the Mean Streak Oil Supply hostage. I dont think it would help that much, but getting rid of some of that friction may be enough to turn a horrible ride, into a bad one.

CP is not in danger because if SFMM gets 2 coasters they will have 14 and they will be tied for a year and since I highly dought that SFMM will get another coaster in 2002, CP will get their 15th coaster then and have the record alone.

So I guess Jr. Gemini and Woodstock Express don't count then? If so, SFMM still wins 13-12, since they have two kiddie coasters as well.

Funny, for years CP fans have rubbed it in the faces of others that they had more rollercoasters than anyone on the planet. Now it's 'quality over quantity?' Make up your minds.

How many on this board have actually been to SFMM? I'd venture to say only a few. The rest judge a park by someone elses opinion. That's petty.

Now, I have been to both parks many times, and I have to say, while SOME of SFMM's rides have been excessivley trimmed, the park as a whole is right on par with CP. This whole thing is like a bunch of four-year olds screaming 'My toy's better than yours! Nah-nah-nah-nah-nana.'

What I think is going on here, is that the ego of CP lovers is a little bruised and bloodied by today's monster announcement. Completley understandable. I'm sure SFMM fans will feel it also within the next few years as CP and SFMM duke it out.

My next point. Why whine? We benefit from this battle. Instead of one new ride every two years, we get a new one every year! SFMM and CP need each other to drum up competition, and draw more people into their parks.

Just FYI: Here's the SFMM line-up for 2001:
'X'- Arrow 4D w/ 88 degree drop, 76 mph. 3,600 feet long.
'Deja Vu' - Super Invertigo w/ 90 degree vertical spikes.
'Goliath Jr.' Kiddie coaster modeled after Big 'G'

Riddlerfreak you need to wait a minute.

People who like Cedar Point brag because we have the BEST coasters. Look at Magnum, it has been number 1 for so many years, Raptor too, even Mantis before it was trimmed. I don't car if Cedar Point had 20 roller coasters, if they weren't good then I would be bragging. I haven't been to Six Flags Magic Mountain but here lets look at Amusement Today... I see Goliath made 16th place and thats the highest MM made. So we can yell Quality over Quantity all we want because its true. On this little Poll I see Magnum Number 1, Millennium Force is number 2 (and this polls dead line was I think 2 months after the force opened, how long was it after Goliaths?) Raptor is 5. I will even look at another Poll at Worlds of Coaster, Millennium Force 1, Raptor 2, Goliath 3. I am not getting an attitude or anything but don't say things they we aren't. Its to bad that Cedar Point has lost the record but it is still quality over quantity, Cedar Point has both.

So where a rollercoaster ranks in terms of a poll dominated by East Coasters who have never been to SFMM means CP has higher quality coasters? So that means if Al Gore is your choice as president, but Bush wins the election, Bush magically becomes the better candidate for you? That is a ridiculous way of claiming something to be better. I could easily make a case for SFMM having better coasters. My vote doesn't count? Please! Come up with a better one than that. Sorry to bring politics into this, but where do Cedar point's coaster rank in the Mitch poll, rumored to be the best and the most fair? Hymmmmm...

Like I said, forming your opinions based on other people's 'preferences' is silly.

Let's face it, the East Coast has always looked upon Westerners as the leppers of the country. I've had conversations where we're called lazy, incompetent, beach bums. That goes to show the way Easterners are biased. East Coast publications spend more time in East Coast parks, so sure, those parks are going to come out on top.

Well, If you want to get technical Judge Roy. Last year, on Mitch's Steel poll, CP had 3 coasters in the Top 30. Magnum #11 (And this is a 11 yearold coaster), Raptor #17 or 18 can't remember which one, and Mantis #32. MM highest coaster was Riddlers Revenge which was 2 places BEHIND Mantis. Batman didnt count for MM because it was counted as one, meaning all clones. The rest of MM steel coaster were ranked pretty low. I am betting MF will outrank Goliath. I also will bet Magnum will place higher, too??

Um.... so what? I've never really thought too much about any park's world records... I guess I don't understand why some people are getting so worked up about this.

While it's kinda sad that CP's losing the record, it doesn't bother me that much. I think MM made a good decision, the only thing I would have done different is not used Vekoma as the company behind Deja Vu. I would've gotten intamin, MUCH smoother.

Deja Vu is a Vekoma Super Invertigo. You can't just hire one company to make somebody else's product.
