Length of "Maverick"?

CPCoasterFanatic

I am just curious on how long everyone thinks "Maverick" is at this point of construction and how long the final ride will be? My first guess is it s currently 1240ft and will be approx 4200 ft. But what do I know. Im jut guessing on what i have seen on the pictures. I think it would be cool if someone got the length right. Because at this point in time all way can do is wonder for the next 6 days.

I was curious myself. I was gonna say somewhere in the range of 6000'. Personally I would like to be about 8000'.

That's a pretty hefty estimate, Rippin.

I would estimate that it will be in the 100'-10,000' range.

I think if it was 8000' it would be to long no matter how many inverisions or what nots it may have. I would still like to see CP build a coaster that goes under ground. I mean come one the Space Needle support goes down 30ft into the earth. Does anyone even ride that anymore? I guess my point is if they can go 30 ft for the SN then why couldnt they do it for a coaster

There is a big difference between having a solid block of concrete 30ft underground and having a tunnel 30ft underground. You dont need the 30ft footer to not leak. ;)

Put it this way, would you build a house with your basement under a river? Pretty much the same thing.

6,000 seems a bit long. If you look at some of CP's other coasters (built since 1989), you may notice a pattern:
Magnum: 5,106
Raptor: 3,790
Mantis: 3,900
Millie: 6,595
The only coasters over 4,000 feet are the big guys, and this is typical of hyper+ coasters, since the elements are all exaggerated in size to accommodate the high speed.

Its important to also consider that Intamin has only 3 steel coasters over 5,000 (MF, S:ROS and Cali Screamin). Worldwide, there are only 6 steel coasters (by all manufacturers, according to RCDB.com) that are longer than 5,000' in length while also being short (short = drops less than 190'-ish): Daidarasaurus, Ultimate, Cali Screamin', Gao, Lisebergbanan and Titan.

And because we've already got a pretty good estimate on how much track we have so far (~3,500'), I would think that expecting a longer ride than Raptor would be wishful thinking.

Of course its stil a possibility it will leave the construction zone. which company made SD2000?

You do bring up a good point, but I dont think that we have seen all the track for this ride.

It will not leave the current construction zone.

Morgan made Steel Dragon.

i agree CP.. but i don't know how far they could go underground that much into the lake.. may spring a leak and sink CP!.. i would like to see somethin go say.. 300 in the air.. then 100 under the ground or so... .. occassionally pop up through the ground in the top of a loop... but don't see that happenin any time soon.. anywhere.. but ya never know.. anyone ridden Expedition Everest?

What Ben said.

I think that there should be a filter in place so that whenever someone tries to post something outlandish, a popup appears asking for evidence/proof/logic. Of course, this would probably be one very lonely forum if that were the case. :)

I had a request yesterday to filter out something. It was pretty funny.

I was thinking of making a feature request of some sort of control that only you could post new threads in this forum, Walt ;)

Actually, it sounds like the new version of POP Forums will have a lot of welcomed new features. Not sure if that will be one of them. :)

If you stop letting people voice what they think ,then I guess it wouldn't be a very good forum.Funny thing is that you have a choice to just read it and not say anything. Everytime you reply to a post then it goes to the top of the list. If you dont post it goes away.
