TTD Down for rest of season

icaughtbluephoria

Just letting you all know that TDD is down for the rest of the season:

From the OnPoint! Blog 10/10/05:

On a sad note, Top Thrill Dragster is currently closed for mechanical reasons. It will remain closed for the rest of the season.

We need to order a part for the ride, and unfortunately, it will not get here by Oct. 30.

We will have it in operation for you in 2006.

God it is plagued with so many problems.

Yay for Intamin!

Does this mean that something else will open on Friday nights?

Well It had a good season, it just sucks it has to end like this. This means you'll expect longer lines during the weekend on Millennium Force and Magnum XL 200. Wicked Twister should have a longer wait to it as well.

No, it makes perfect sense. :) She had a great summer season, and she decided to accumulate all of her previous years' downtime into one really long winter break.

In case you missed it, this is sarcasm. I'm so not happy with Dragster right now!

I'd say they will probally have Wicked Twister open on Friday night.

Well, at least it was open for the better part of the season. In early June I got in 3 rides within about 1 hour during my one trip of the year, so I'm happy. Hopefully they put a great bit of effort into it during the offseason and have it in great shape by the time May of 2006 rolls around.

How does it reopen and then shut down so quickly? I was really getting excited to ride it October 30th. This will be my first time going to Cedar Point and not riding Dragster.

Because if there are 2 seperate things that break, they need to wait for a part because it wasn't anticipated to break.

Are these parts so damn expensive that CP can't afford to stock spare parts? Sheesh!

Wow if TTD is performing like the Indians did for the 2005 season, expect great things next year! Heck we might even see it go all the way!

Just kidding. It's really a bummer to see its shutdown again, I was hoping to get my first ride on it for 2005.

No I think the Indians will make the playoffs next year. Who knows maybe this time win it all. As far as Dragster maybe they could get it to run like every day non-stop.

MrScott

It sounds like they are custom parts. Even so, if the piece of crap parts break every day they should have them there, regardless of cost.

I'd rather it stand dormant for weeks at a time and they have money to build new attractions and further improve the park then them spending money on buying a spare part for everything.

Everyday or, at least every season.

The operational status of this ride has been unacceptable for the last 3 years. I think both the manufacturer and CP are to blame, somewhat. Cp has tried very hard to keep it running (while spending the least amount of money (SPARE PARTS).

I think I'm having a stroke. Either that or I just said something smarter than the CF board ever thought of.

I'm going to lie down now.

I'm bummed because I usually always make it to every bonus/halloweekend sunday but couldn't yesterday. I missed my window. Oh well, I've been on it almost 100 times since it opened, I guesss I can't complain.

Well, both ARE afraid of October.

I could really care less, I just hope enough people are basing the decision of one last trip on TTDs status. That will hopefully keep the park relatively empty on closing weekend.
