I was three trains away when it broke down Sunday. Luckily I had already ridden it 3 times Friday and once earlier in the day. I saw one rollback as we were walking up to get in line for the final time, and then while I was three trains away there was a rollback followed by lots of problems. It looked like they were going to launch again, but no. We waited in line for about 20 more minutes and left. Just as we got out of line they were putting up a sign in front of the line saying it was closed for the day.
That ride breaks down a lot, but it was my boyfriend's first time riding and we had so much fun! Waits were only about 15 minutes Friday night. We should have ridden it more!

Everyday or, at least every season. The operational status of this ride has been unacceptable for the last 3 years. I think both the manufacturer and CP are to blame, somewhat. Cp has tried very hard to keep it running (while spending the least amount of money (SPARE PARTS).
I think I'm having a stroke. Either that or I just said something smarter than the CF board ever thought of.
I'm going to lie down now.

Smarter than they ever throught of... They thought of it, but they don't have millions just laying around to blow off. I'm sure maintenance is fed up with TTD's drain on their budget.
I'm starting to get the feeling that taking the giant ride down isn't a horribly bad idea.
Craaaazy talk...
CP could definitely afford to stock the spare parts, even if we're talking strictly from a PR standpoint. Its not like they wouldn't need them sooner or later, and if they bought 10 shurflabomashingomometers at a time, as opposed to one every few months, wouldn't they get a better deal? At least on the shipping? ;) It would seem that if they can spend oodles of money (though still not enough) on the maintenance of MS, surely they can spend a decent amount on one of their flagship rides like TTD.
All-in-all, though, seems like she had a pretty good season. So, CP gets a B- on their progress report, WAY better than the D+ KK's reputation has given that other park.

but MS has money spent on things like tracking, paneling, etc..
Dragster has SOOOOO many [moving] parts that are put together to make it work like it does every time that it is not at all cost efficient to get spare parts for everything. It would make no sense to have a spare 10,000 hp drum sitting around.
Isn't that every part? ;).
I agree if something major, like a one of the big fluid reservoirs, chambers or the motor itself it would not make sense to have those lying around, as those are prolly million dollar custom “parts.” Regardless, either Intamin Engineers are dumber than we thought or the manufacture screwed up royally as these major parts should not be having such catastrophic failures.
However, if it’s a smaller part like a valve or those pumps that give out every week they should be hanging around, even if they are custom. I seem to recall it being down for a week waiting for the valve in early June of 03. Then it opened up for about a day then the oil got dirty ;).
Since we will never know the parts that failed recently, it’s probably kind of pointless to speculate if they should have had a backup or not. Two days in two months is just absurd, and I think they are lucky this happened now and not in June. We can blame Intamin all we want, but ultimately it’s up to CP to deliver, as Mr. and Mrs. Guest don’t give a crap if a part is on order or who screwed up with what.
With all that said, Thank god Intamin doesn’t design planes ;)
EDIT, on a side note since we are comparing this with baseball, it's funny they say TTD will operate in 2006 . Thats basically the same as saying the Pirates and the Royals will play baseball in 2006 :). *** Edited 10/11/2005 2:42:27 PM UTC by Joe E***

And I welcomed that train back. But I launched the very last train of the year and it was a purple train rollback.
2005-2007 Cedar Point
2007-2008 Dueling Dragons TL
2008- present Sea World Orlando Shamu Lead Area 2
Oh yeah? Well I welcomed that train back and then launched the super-secret last train of the night, which was... (wait for it)... INVISIBLE!!!
Muahahahaha!
;) Does it really matter who went out on the "last" train of the season??? ;)
Brandon
in the 2004 season, my girlfriend and I were the very last front-seat riders and the last people to leave a TTD train for that season.
Her and I rode front seat, and when we came back we got stopped in the block. We waited about 10 minutes and they came over with a pack to unlock our restraints. Since they unloaded from the back-forward, we were the last to get off. (Specifically, she was the last because I was sitting on the outside and remember helping her out.)
That was Sunday the 31st (I believe) of last year, the last day the park was open. It was about 1 hour before the park closed and the ride had not run a single time for the rest of the night. *** Edited 10/11/2005 6:36:05 PM UTC by Grovite18***
I am going friday and i heard it was running and i saw it would be closed for the rest of the season so that stinks
They really do need to keep the parts in stock, Well at least I got to ride it 1 time this year. All the other times I went it was broke. I am going this weekend for my last time of the year and I wanted to finish the year out with TTD like I did last year. Oh well I'll go ride Raptor insted.
