Is Cedar Point your "best bet"?

I live in Sandusky and have a CP season pass, but to be honest, I like the smaller parks much more. HW, Knoebels, etc.

After traveling around and visiting other parks, I have learned that CP is not the end-all and be-all of parks. That said, I still have a good time there, as I do at all the parks I visit.

Well if we're going for ugliness, Disaster Transport should be one of those Honda Box-on-Wheels (someone help me out on the name?)

That would be "Junker", Boris. I can't stand the lego looks of them either.

I've said that before ^^! They should make a commercial with both in them, like advertisement for both Dodge and Cedar Point to be aired in the area.

I'm going to be brutally honest. No way I would go to Cedar Point if I lived in California. Unless I had past ties to the point, I wouldn't even think about it. Jeff pointed out the great idea of CP maybe just being a local park, well, pretty much local. Not like Disney which pulls in worldwide patrons all the time. I mean, I just went a few days ago, and I talked to a bunch of kids, and all of them were within four hours.

What rides are so good at IOA? I live in Tampa and have free tickets to IOA and I have been twice. Dueling dragons are pretty good, and Hulk is very good. But that is 2 rides, I couldn't even name another good ride at that place. Theming only goes so far. CP has so many more options. You guys must be really spoiled, because try finding some airtime in Florida(Gwazi and Sheikra are the ONLY options). IOA isn't near as good as even Busch Gardens.

Spiderman, isnt that the 3D ride? Its pretty lame, sitting in a car that bounces you around a little while you watch a screen. Back to the Future anyone?

How is Spiderman lame? Furthermore, how does it compare to BTTF in any way?

BTTF & Spiderman = both rides you sit in a car that bounces you a few times while you watch a screen. One's 3D and one isnt. I'm saying they're very similar, and yea, in my opinion those rides are lame. Maybe good for a 12 year old. I prefer speed & the freefall stomach feeling.

To be honest I can't say what park would be my best bet since I haven't been to every park. Of the dozen or so I've been to Cedar Point IS my best be for coasters, best variety etc. PKI is my best bet for the entire family (ages 5-46) there is more for the kids. SFNO is my best bet for a quick getaway, I know I bashed them before, but it's a great place to go to ride a few coasters in no time and it's close to Rue Bourbon.
If I can visit every amusement park I could make a better opinion, so for now thats my two cents.

Wow.....if you don't like Islands of Adventure, then you need to take a much closer look at the park. You could ride Dr. Doom's Fear Fall, Jurrasic Park River Adventure, Dudley Doo Rights Ripsaw Falls, Popeye and Pluto's Rat Barges, and Spiderman, along with Incredible Hulk and Dueling Dragons. They also have great shows and good food. (though quite pricey)

WDW is kind of like a luxury car - it has lots to look out inside and out, and lots of features. That equates to the theming. It also performs well, which equates to the fact that their attractions are fun, some moreso than others. The Tower of Terror is like a Mercedes Benz S600, while the Teacups are more like a Kia Amanti.

Cedar Point is a muscle car like a '64 Ford Fairlane 427. It does not have many features (theming), but it's really friggin' fast and thrilling.

Hmmmm, thats an interesting way of looking at it.Let me see.......CP is beautiful...like a Jag maybe? but its fast and exciting,so you it's something like a Porche.Its comfortable like a Lincoln Town car and its roomy like my Chrysler Town and Country LXI.So its all things to all people and definitely worth the trip and your best bet.

My boyfreind and I went to Universal this year the the Island of Adventures, we paid 75.00 each for the tickets and we were there two hours(wishing we were at CP)we rode the Spiderman,(that was a fun ride) we rode the Hulk,and we Rode there version of the PT and the Dueling Dragons) they do have a lot of Themes going on, but for me,, JUST GIVE ME THE RIDE,we were there for only about two hours and most of that time we were just walking back and forth to the rides and then back to the car,it was ok but "we are so lucky to have Cedar Point, it has it's own beauty :) We love CP!

I love Cedar Point, I haven't been all over, but think it's the best all around for riding! And that's what I like to do when I go to a park, I'm not into the shows, not even all that into the food, I just want to non-stop ride all day and I think CP is the best place for that.

I go at least once a year and I like in NY, only about a 5-6 hour drive. This year I'm going twice. Maybe since I have never been close enough to go regularly, I can't understand how anyone could get sick of it!!!

I agree with you Jillly. Bring on the rides, there isn't any time for the shows! I go to the park strictly for the rides and for the atmosphere. I haven't visited enough other parks to compare to Cedar Point, just Canada's Wonderland. Cedar Point is nice and close (2 hours) and provides me with a feeling that no other place can do.

You didn't even see 5% of what IOA and USF has to offer. You had it in your mind when you got there you wouldn't like it. Good thing you didn't go to Epcot. You would've really hated that.
