What are the chances of getting hired the first year you fill out an application over the internet? Is it also hard to get a ride host position on a major roller coaster the first year?

Your chances of being hired the first year are fairly good as long as you do well during your phone interview. From what I understand, selection of rides is pretty random but I'm sure there are some verbal cues that the interviewers look for when hiring for certain rides. I know individuals who were hired for Dragster their first year, so, it's possible.

Wow...that is surprising. I would think that they would give the more "prestigous" rides to more experienced employees. I guess that each rides operating system differs, so it really doesn't matter then.

Dragster has quite a few first year employees this year. Working a ride is working a ride, regardless of its popularity. Some rides are a lot more challenging to work than you would expect them to be, and that statement doesn't directly reference coasters either.

Yeah, it is likely that you will get a job as a first year by applying on the internet. I should know, I was called back 2 days after applying at CP and was hired less than 2 weeks after applying. Now I have 13 days until processing! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

I guess that would make sense. With all of the advances in the computer industry, the newer rides would be more user friendly than the older rides with outdated operating systems.

That depends... If you ever get a chance to see Dragster's control room, you would see how complicated that thing is. Also, the newer, more popular rides have a higher demand on capacity which can make for extremely fast-paced working environments. Rides such as Dragster and Millennium Force can also test anyone's nerve with loose articles as guests attempt to conceal them prior to boarding the train. The newer rides might be easier to "run" but aren't any easier to work.

Doing a over the phone interveiw can you request a ride or type of ride you want to work?
Also does any one know what the "verbal" clues are for hiring into a roller coaster?

They ask about either a fast paced ride or a slow paced ride. I didn't know the difference so i inquired. A fast paced ride would be the Corkscrew, because you have to constantly keep it moving or it will shut down. A slow paced ride, believe it or not, would be millennium, because it can be run at your own speed. Another question was "Are you afraid of heights", my response: "Ha, are you kidding? I've been on that thing a hundred times". I got hired for Dragster my first year. Totally kicks butt.

Is TTD a slow paced ride?
Can you tell them what ride you want to work?
