Yes

It was going to be called banshee, but I believe the name upset someone, somewhere , so the name was changed to mantis even after t shirts and buttons were printed up.

You can still find banshee t shirts and buttons ocasinaly(sp) on e-bay.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Supposedly there was a group of people who were outraged at the name and theme (having to do with death) and CP agreed. Too bad though, it was a pretty cool logo.

Just another example of "political correctness" gone awry.

I remember reading at the time of "The Banshee to Mantis" change and that was actually brought up to CP and they said their was never a concern with the name/theme of DD and they had no plans of changing it, but for the future they didn't want their rides/attractions associated with death.

From RCDB.com (roller coaster database):

Initially, Mantis was to be named "Banshee." In Irish folklore, a banshee was a female spirit whose wail was said to foretell a death in the family. After this definition was printed in a local newspaper, Cedar Point felt uncomfortable with it in its patrons' minds in association with the new coaster. For sensitivity reasons, the name was changed to Mantis, which was on a short list of names for the coaster. The original logo would come to be that of Dorney Park's Steel Force.

Does anyone know what the colour scheme would have been if it would have been Banshee?

The colors for Banshee are the colors for Mantis. The colors never changed, only the name. BTW - The colors of Raptor and Mantis are backwards. ;)

I believe Fastball's find on RCDB says that Dorney Park's Steel Force has the logo that Banshee was supposed to use. Here's a good shot of Steel Force's logo.

Steel Force's logo is similar to what Banshee's was, but not exact. A banshee was flying over the name, with a different typeface.

I heard the color scheme was supposed to be different for Banshee. I heard it was going to be black supports and teal track. Prabebly just a rumor though.

Prabebly? You need to start using a spell checker, or at least pay attention in class.
