The "accountability" for schools is crap. We're graduating illiterate kids that can't figure out the Pythagorean theorem but they can learn to beat a standardized test. Lame.
I agree. a²+b²=c² by the way.

We can all thank Gov. Bob Tax on the "accountability" for Ohio schools. I wonder how many times the Pythagorean theorem was used during the design of Banshee/Mantis.

I'm bad at all kinds of things... but I don't make excuses for it. I work at it.
And I don't hate kids, or teens for that matter. I get to spend days with ten awesome 17-year-old girls that are smart, funny, talented and don't settle for anything less than trying to be better people in all aspects of their lives. When I ask them to modify their behavior, whether it be in how they pass a volleyball or how they treat each other, they do it.
You'll probably be pumping my girls' gas someday, because you clearly have no interest in taking responsibility for your own growth and development.
If I rag on you, it's not because of one isolated incident... it's because it has been going on for awhile.

amazing.
only on a coaster-fan message board can an argument drift from a ride's previous name, to a personal insult-fest! I love it! :)
Ever since I've seen this forum started, I was dying to log in, however, my Mozilla FireFox wasn't cooperating... but in the end it all worked out.
Well, being it my name for this site, I clearly think that the name should have been kept at Banshee. Even though the logo is now a bit outdated, its still pretty cool if you ask me. I also don't find the name offensive and I don't think this generation of people aged 15-25 really has that much of a "negative connotation" at CP execs stated as their reason for the name change. But I know even if we all came to a concencus about how in the '05 season, CP should market the ride as Banshee, it would never be changed. So I guess all of us Banshee people are fighting more than an uphill battle...oh well, it's fun to wish for a little!
Last public train of 2005 on MF!
I was watching the promo video the other day, and they show some CGI video of the ride. There's one shot of the front of the coaster and there is a big black splotch where the Mantis logo should have been.
As a side note, does anyone have any other promos? (besides Raptor, Mantis and Millenium). I've wondered if there were similar promos done for Magnum, Mean Streak, Snake River etc.
As for which it should be, I don't think it really matters. I like Mantis as it is and the color scheme is one of the best and most original in the park. I'm looking forward to another B&M to be added to the park. It's been almost 10 years since the last one and I think their designs are much more original than Intamins.

The reason Mantis is painted the way it is is because it was supposed to have a Halloween type theme to it, being named Banshee.
Cedar Point has realized its capacity issues, and it's going to be awesome when they convert the ride to a floorless and change the name back to Banshee. ;) It will have a cool effect flying along the track like a banhsee. ;)
