I was just signing on Pointbuzz and I seen the T-shirt that said Magnum is sinking is that true? I am asking this because I was reading on CP website and seen that the Magnum was not sinking in fact it was just a April Fool's Day joke. So who is lieing the shirt or CP?

I believe that "Magnum is sinking" was a myth wandering around CP and throughout this forum. A lot of people thought that it was sinking, and others disputed that it was not. I guess the outcome was the Magnum was infact NOT sinking. So the t-shirt isn't a lie...it is more of an inside joke.

If I am wrong, which I may be, somebody please correct me. *** Edited 8/12/2004 3:40:46 AM UTC by Jesz***

All I have to say is WOW! OF COURSE THE MAGNUM IS SINKING!!!! JEEZ, YOU MUST NOT BE THAT SMART IF YOU THINK MAGNUM ISNT SINKING!! AND THAT ITS GOING TO BE SENT TO GEAUGA LAKE TO PREVENT THE SINKING!!! WOW!!!

Seriously, that is a lie. The Magnum is not sinking, and "gullible" is not in the dictionary.

Never. This is going to stay with CP fan(atic)s. I have heard that Magnum was sinking when I first started going to CP with a friend who got me into CP and GTTP, when it was GTTP.

The whole thing that started this rumor was on one April Fool's Day a local radio station broadcasted that Magnum was sinking. This rumor spread like wildfire and there are still people I catch in line that are telling their friends this horrible story and truly believe it. For the longest time people thought the Magnum was being sold to the Japanese and was going to another park. To clear it all up, Magnum has not sunk an inch, in fact its 46 feet higher than it was the during its first season...HAHAHAHA!!

I want to ride a rollercaster NAKED!!

We'll never get completely away from that rumor. There are two factors that will keep it going, A) People are stupid. B) Some persons want to know the truth and therefore will ask questions such as this. If you're new to Cedar Point and go with a friend who has gone several times before and he tells you Magnum is sinking, why wouldn't you believe him. At least #1Fan had the balls to come here (where people usually get flamed for the "Magnum is sinking" thing) and ask the question anyway.

I thought it was obvious that the shirt is a joke. Why would we put a fact on a shirt? I don't think a shirt with "Dragster is the fastest coaster" or "Thunder Canyon is a water ride" would be very popular.

About the shirt, how well has it been selling? I've been meaning to get one and am curious as to whether any other items (sweatshirt, hat, coffe mug etc.) will be available.

I'd personally be a fan of a "Thunder Canyon is a water ride" t-shirt...

Walt... How can you say that a T-Shirt with facts listed on it would not be popular? There are tons of t-shirts with facts on them. i.e. "I'm with stupid" :)

The rumor is actually rooted in a joke article printed in Behind the Lines (the CP Human Resources rag) many years ago. That's a fact.
