1-1.5 G's, should I be disapointed?

I'm not sure what to think. I know it's going to be amazing to go 120 MPH on a roller coaster! But, my favorite thing on my 2nd favorite roller coaster was the awsome acceleration on Xcelerator at Knott's Berry Farms. (1st coaster being Millennium Force). What I really wanted to hear is what all of you think this launch will be like? Will it get to 120 fast enough for hard core riders like us and give us that awsome pit in our stomache? What do you think?

Apparently, the launch isn't going to be quite as intense as the launch on Wicked Twister. But, have you noticed the length of the launch track? That's a long pull to the lift. 0-120 in "about" 4 seconds. Not quite 4, but about. For a coaster, this is great. what I doubt is that there won't be too many top fuel dragster drivers cutting in line for this. Those things are capable of 0-340 in "about" 5 seconds. That's 5+ Gs! These guys laugh at a Cedar Point ride. That just means more rides for me, though. :-)

I'd love to take a ride in one of those rails, though!

The "g's" on this ride are goign to be the pullout.. not the launch..

Superman at SFMM doesn't pull that many G's on the launch either.. It's the pullout..

That makes sense to me. I've never been on Superman at SFMM. From what I've heard of coaster shows on Travel Channel, Red Garter Rob's quote makes a lot more sense now.

http://www.rcdb.com/installationdetail140.htm Are you talking about this superman? I thought that ride was one of the most boring roller coasters I have ever been on! (1st being the flying coaster at six flags elich gardens in colorado, where i live. WHAT A JOKE!!! LOL!!!). Well if TTD is going to feel that gay and boring I'm tempted to skip my trip this year. Someone please tell me otherwise! Tell me I am going to feel some G's pusshing on me on the launch, because I felt none on Superman.

Coasterking, I think you will feel good G forces on both the launch and pullout -.I think the speed will be what wakes everyone up. I was surprised to see Monty confirm the launch of Dragster will be similar to WT, until I searched a past post of mine, where I ranked all launch coasters. WT was tough to rank since it really takes two launches to reach the top speed and there are not many stats posted about the time and max speed. You can see that Superman at MM truely is a boring launch - hope this helps.

Dodonpa - 2.71 Gs (107 MPH in 1.8 sec)

Hypersonic - 2.02 Gs - (80 MPH in 1.8 sec)

Xcelerator - 1.62 Gs - (82 MPH in 2.3 sec)

Dragster - 1.36 Gs - (120 MPH in 4 sec) OR 1.56 Gs if launch is 3.5 seconds

Wicked Twister - 1.31 Gs (72 MPH in 2.5 sec)

Rock n Roll - 0.97 Gs (60 MPH in 2.8 sec)

Hulk - 0.91 Gs (40 MPH in 2.0 sec)

B&R Chiller (SFGA) - 0.79 Gs (70 MPH in 4.0 sec)

Superman: TE (MM) - 0.65 Gs (100 MPH in 7 sec)

Flight of Fear PKI - 0.51 Gs (54 MPH in 4.8 sec)

How about you ride it first and then ask yourself if you are disappointed with it. No one can really tell you how the ride is like until they have ridden it, although the list of launch intensities helps a little.

I agree CP. The launch itself is only one part of the ride. It may not be the most intense launch, and I for one is glad. I want to be thrilled and scared, but I would like the ride to be comfortable as well. The launch will certainly be much more intense than Superman at MM, AND when you take into account the speed, height, and twists - I think CP has a winner on its hands. Like many, I would love to see a longer ride, but given the height and speed, I will be driving to Ohio from Boston in May guarenteed.

I really wanted the launch to be as intense as Hypersonic, if not, Dodonpa. If it is not even as intense as Xcelerator I will be somewhat disappointed. Of all the people that I have talked to that have been on both XLC and Xcelerator, they usually like XLC better because the launch is so much more thrilling.

I think anything that can acomplish going 0-120mph in less than 4 seconds is quite intense. But I still haven't had a ride on the ride yet.

Thank you a lot Tom! Great information. If the launch is 1.36 G's compared to Xcelerator's 1.6, it is going to blow Xcelerator out of the water! 4 SECONDS!!! 4 seconds of 1.36 G's is so amazing it's hard for me to prepare for. It will be awsome handling almost the same G's but for double the time and much more speed! NOW I'm excited! By the way don't ever ride Superman at MM. Sucks so bad, makes me so sad.

Coasterking is right on. You have to remember that with this hydraulic launch system the g's will be pretty close to constant the whole way. With wicked twister(which doesn't reach 72mph on the first launch as advertised), you get that feeling in your stomach right when the LIMs kick in, and it lessens through the launch. I think you're going to get that feeling for the whole 3.9 seconds or whatever it turns out to be on Dragster. And about the comparison to Superman @ SFMM, that takes 7 seconds to reach 100 mph and was designed for the weightlessness more than an intense launch. Besides the quick acceleration, you have to remember that you are going 40 mph, or 50 percent faster, than Xcelerator which I imagine would contribute to the adrenaline quite a bit. But those are just my thoughts...

I never thought about that coasterking, i keep thinking about the acceleration rate and i forget that it will last for 4 seconds. I can't wait.

Actually.. when they released the stats on the ride (the same time they announced it) they listed the speeds per swing. They never said "72mph out the gate".

Etrain, I got the formula from another thread and just did the math with statistics from the web. Since CP has not released the exact duration of the launch, it could easily be exactly as intense as Xcelerator (which is fine by me). I was very disapointed at first over the length of the ride, but am now VERY excited and not disapointed.

I really think the 0-120 MPH launch is going to be the highlight of this ride. What does everyone else here think? Do you think it is the pure hight that will bring you back for more? Or is it the 90 degree freefall drop you're waiting for? I am very interested in what you are most excited about. Please post and let me know!

The whole package: launch, 90* twist, top hat, 270* twist, freefall, brake run. So many elements in just 16 seconds!
