Cleveland Comparison.

For any of you in the Cleveland vicinity: going eastbound on the interbelt, looking into the buildings you can get a good feel of how tall this #16 will be. The National City Center building (white) is 410ft. tall. Realizing this for the first time down there gave me the chills. Also, just a block north on E.9th is the McDonalds Investments building which is 305ft. tall which can also give you an idea of how Millennium Force will stack up against this thing. Pretty amazing that thrill rides are getting as big as our skyscrapers.

Yeah that is pretty cool, it'd be cool to see like a height comparison or something with #16 compared to some of the worlds famous monuments and buildings(they did something like this with millie with the capitol building and statue of liberty).

Seems like just yesterday we were making the same comparison to the 300-foot Diamond Building (E.12 & Superior, where Tim and I worked) for Millennium Force.

a month or so ago i was in the North Point Office building (i think it shares a KeyBank?) doing a job site visit on the 16th floor. big green building about 20-something stories tall. i know it had to be more than 10 feet per floor, maybe as much as 15 feet. 16th floor x 15 feet per = 240 feet (and that is pretty high). seems about right... 400+ is gonna be fun i think.

The tallest building in Fort Wayne is 420 ft. tall. After the ride was topped off, and it got to the news affiliates and such, WOWO had a segment of their talk radio devoted to talking about it. They were amazed at thinking about plummeting off the top of that building, let alone being up that high.

Got One. Take a look at this computer drawing. Regardless of what the record books say, Sears Tower from top to bottom is still the tallest.

If they count pillars, they should also count the antennas. Of course I am from the windy city so I am a little biased. ;)

I didn't know the Diamond building was really close to MF's height. I thought it was only about 240ft.-250ft.? Sears and Patronas towers...how about the CN tower? ;)

The Diamond Building in Cleveland is indeed 300 feet tall. I'm guessing that the similar East Ohio Gas building next door might be as well, since they're similar, but I never really looked very hard.

Since we're off on just a bit of a chicago tangent, if they'd built the 7 S. Dearborn building, that would have been the tallest, but it never got off the ground (no pun intended).

Now, back to Cedar Point because everyone probably gives less than a s**t about Chicago skyscrapers in this forum.

Yes, if you are on the top floor of the Sears Tower, you could look down on the top floor of the Petronas Towers. That, my friends, is taller, no matter what the "permanent" structure is. The radio towers should count as well.

For those of you in the West Michigan area, I looked up the tallest buildings in Grand Rapids to provide some comparisons. Here is what I found:

The Plaza Towers apartment building is our tallest at 367'. The Amway Grand Plaza Hotel is roughly equivalent to MF at 328'. The Kent County Courthouse is roughly equivalent to the Magnum at 202'.

It's amazing to think that the second largest city in Michigan doesn't have a skyscraper to compare to #16. Think about that the next time you are driving around downtown.
