Every day is one day closer to an announcement.

Ok, you don't gotta get all pissed off. I am friends with a guy who talks to CP all the time. They officially told him that the anouncement won't be until January. OK?

Too bad Cedar Point won't officially announce when their official announcement will be... but then we wouldn't keep wondering when it will be.

It kind of reminds me of Christmas... one time, I snuck out and peeked at one present (I found a key to the locked room). It just wasn't as much fun getting that gift, since I already knew what it was.

Somehow, I loosely think that same 'idea' applies here. If we knew when it'd be, then what would the fun be?

Just my two cents.

We've been hearing an annoucement in January for months from the people "in the know." It's nothing earth shattering or new. You just have to know who's posts to listen to.

In my opinion, I think we will see an announcement much sooner...most likely around Thanksgiving probably. (Think WT last year). Construction is going on at a much faster pace now that the park is closed to the public.

Denial is an ugly thing, especially for those of you who were waiting for construction to start happening on MF island. Don't say I didn't tell ya.

Ground work has progress a lot, as well as track being hung, but the tower structure itself has remained the same.

Maybe there won't be an annoncment at all. CP will just keep building the ride and we'll watch the progress over the winter. PKI never fully announced Tomb Raider.

I have my money on November 19th. Why? Because last year, WT was announced on Tuesday, Nov. 20, this year, the 19th is a Tuesday. This choice is also fueled by the fact that it is shortly after the season pass prices go up.

I suspect we will see an announcement this week or next week as I found the following information on the Investor Calendar on the Cedar Fair Site.

November 11 - 2002 3rd quarter earnings announcement

November 12 - 2002 3rd quarter earnings conference call

There are several other more esoteric events scheduled this week as well. The events that are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday could include mention of capital expenditures. Last year's 3rd quarter events took place on 11/8 and Wicked Twister was announced on 11/20 so the events were at least close to each other. So if they follow historical precedence we should not have to wait much longer.

For what it is worth I read in Funhouse (the IAPAA publication) that CP told participants at the September mini meeting at CP that the announcement would be in January.

When I was at the park last summer, a ride op said they were going to announce the ride during the Superbowl. This may be a load of crap, but since it is one of the largest television audiences........
