Imminent announcement?

Those "flag poles" went up months ago, and did indeed have Camp Snoopy flags on them. However, when they were originally put up, it appeared that they would be for a sign, then longer black poles were put over the little poles and the flags were just put on. Now it appears that the black part that held the flags have been taken off the poles again and what we have are 4 short poles with portable queues around them. For what purpose do these rails serve? I don't see anything besides the fact that an announcement sign may be going up there soon.

I've worked right across from those flagpoles all season long guys, they've held camp snoopy flags up until recently. I really doubt that they're for some sign for the ride. With only 3 weekends left I doubt that they're going to announce before the season is over and if they did it would be dumb to put a sign up for that short amount of time. Just my thoughts.

I have to agree with jdoty. I don't think we can expect an announcement until after November 15th when the discounted season pass sales are over with. That is what they did with WT last year, and that is presummably what they are going to do this year.

But couldnt this also be looked at as the flagpoles are to be used for the sign but they were used for flags up until this point so they just didnt have poles in the ground all season. Seriously, why would CP put a few flagpoles in the ground for camp snoopy right next to area 51...I guess i just think they are interesting. Actually all season my thought was that was where the announcement sign would be placed.

Ok, I saw these last night, and they definately weren't there before (assuming we're talking about the same poles). In addition to that, the park has set up some temporary silver rails in a little arc around these poles. That tells me they are expecting that people will be crowding around these poles, quite possibly to view a sign for the new ride. If I remeber correctly, these poles look like they would hold a sign about the size of the sign they put up when MF was announced. I don't know why they'd announce with only 2 weeks left, but I think there's an announcement comming.

They were there before. You can see them in photos on this page.

Well being at the park yesterday, I saw the 4 poles with the silver railing. The railing is there because if you look at the midway, the concrete is all busted up, so the railing is to keep people away from the busted up concrete. I don't think it will be for a sign about the new ride. CP wouldn't have sign up for the last two weeks of the season.

I know the flags were there, but I thought the poles they were mounted on were metal, these were wooden. I'm probably wrong, but they look like they weren't there before, I've never paid any attention.

Hello Everyone.

This past week, I was interviewed by the Cleveland Plain Dealer regarding this project. She asked some rather interesting questions, though I know as much of this project as anyone else on this board!

I did speak with Robin Innes of CP's Marketing and the announcement is still going to be out a bit. Given that the IAAPA conference isn't until the third week of November, my guess is they will, indeed, hold off until around then. What a Brilliant marketing plan to keep all the little people guessing!

However if the announcement is during the offseason, why have an area that appears to be for an announcement poster?

What does IAAPA have to do with anything? The intended audience, the general public, likely doesn't know or care about IAAPA or the tradeshow. If I was Intamin, I don't doubt I'd want the announcement out there so I could sell the ride to other parks.

...Unless it is a new product for Intamin. So far we've been assuming that this is 'Xcelerator MKII'. But what if it isn't, quite?

An announcement near the IAAPA trade show date would do nothing more than give the single digit salute to other park facilities.

By prolonging the announcement when Season Pass prices are increased is an additional Brilliance in marketing.

Hey gang,

Have you ever thought that they're not announcing to soon because of competition? Just a thought....

MF's record was broken a month after it was open. Can't blame CP for not wanting to announce soon. Especially with the speculation of this being huge.

Like to hear everyone's thoughts on this.

NFS: We've been over this. These rides go years in the making. Steel Dragon was in development long before MF was announced.

CP is having their quarterly conference call Nov. 12. It sure would be nice if they announce the new ride then.

I don't think they would announce the ride then but they might announce a date for the announcement.
