How did this go from FX to Stage to Anthems to Amiptheaters?
Let's keep it on the subject of Fireworks ONLY. No stage, no concert, no anthems.

Fireworks shows aren't cheap. I pay about $30,000 for a 20 minute show. I don't see a bang-bang show happening on a nightly basis.

And again, where do YOU suggest putting an "Illuminations" type show Doom?

Where? Right on the lagoon around TTD and Iron Dragon and MF, that's where.

Wahoo - you work for Disney at all? I know when we were down there, the CB bus driver told us the cost of the Illuminations show (somewhere around 30k), not cheap at all. And it wasn't even a true fireworks show, there's a lot of down time while the globe comes out.

It was cool to watch though.

So, Doom, you want to fill in the remaining lagoons?

I don't work for Disney, now, but I plan a 4th of July event every year and do business with Zambelli. We ask for a "better than average" 4th show but it is $30K for 20 minutes. No way is Cedar Point going to do that on a nightly basis because there would be no return on that. At least no significant return.

Doom's idea is nice in concept but the fact is there would be no common "stage center", if you will, where the action would be projected like there is at Epcot unless they tore down all the trees on the island and people could view from all around the lagoons.

Not an idea I would like as I've seen too much Point vegetation disappear over the years.

No no, we just bring barges out to launch the fireworks from, no lake drainage.

First, you realize that the lagoons are only a few feet deep, right? Try to float a barge filled with fireworks on three feet of water.

Next, where the heck are you going to have several thousand people stand in that area? Not going to happen.

Third, stop whinin gabout your thread not going in the exact direction you want it to. It's called thread creep and it's a normal thing that happens during a discusison. Live with it.

Why not? I think somehow incorporating Lake Erie into the park and not just as a beach could have some real potential. Put a direct viewing area on the bay maybe? Or up front by Demon Drop?

You more than likely would not be able to get anything like the globe at Epcot, but something you can dock (a small barge) to launch each show, would be neat.

It's my opinion they should leave the FX and things like that to Disney and Universal. The "spectacular" is not really that spectacular. It's family oriented and some people may like it. But as an overall production, you can tell it's not a major chunk of the budget and is sort of out of date.

I think that the fx show would be very costly to cedar point, and their allready talking about cutting things back. So instead of a entirely different show how bout just update the snoopy summer spactulcar. I think if they change somethings about that then it would be better.
