You know what CP REALLY needs?

CP really needs a good FX show. Shot off right from Millenium Island.
Sort of like an, Illuminations ROE thing.
Good, yes?

Won't happen. The logistics involved in just putting on Snoopy's Summer Spectacular is probably alot more than the average person realizes.

Setting something off from Millennium Island would require the closing of one of the most popular rides in the park for safety reasons. Don't think it's going to happen.

To say nothing of the fact that you can't even see any significant portion of the island from anywhere but Camp Snoopy.

Do You Know What CP really needs................

A very large amphitheater, Like Blossom (In Akron). They could book very big acts and broadcast the music throughout the park during the concert. I know that this would not happen though. I will keep dreamin' (I am also a big concert freak, along with my Luv for CP).

.. another instance of "would be nice" but you don't hand over control of your park wide music system to someone that you have no control over what they will say.

Not even looking at it from a swearing side of things, but some artists are known to go on their own diatribes and political grandstanding during shows. Next thing you know they've offended SOMEONE who wasn't even at the show but it "runied our family's vacation" and they run to a lawyer.

Don't laugh, remember this is the land where ordering hot coffee then getting burned can cost the company that sold you the coffee to spends millions to defend itself against someone who obviously should have drowned in the gene pool at birth.

I always thought a stage in Dragsters mid field right under neath the tower would be sweet. They could put on late concerts and book huge acts...

You know, park closes at 10 or even 8 and they take the stage an hour later. It would probably bum the hell out of some employees.. but would draw a much larger and diverse crowd. tot he park. It might even increase Starlight sales.

One thing you have to be aware of is the impact to on-point guests. There are already complaints by some at Breakers about the laser show. A late night concert may just fuel the fire and those people are paying a pretty steep price to stay on property.

Can we get back on the topic of a good FX show please? This isn't about a concert.

Sorry. The problem with an FX show is where do you put everyone to view the thing? Take a look at Disney-MGM. That is a decent sized park but they had to build a huge stand-alone theatre to accommodate the Fantasmic show. Sea World Ohio had a great show but they had the theatre on the lake that was also used for waterski shows. Epcot has a great show (Illuminations) but it has a massive lake with plenty of viewing areas.

Where would you do it at the Point? The Summer Spectacular is in what is likely the biggest "open" area of the park and the people are pretty crammed in there with uncomfortable seating on the ground and lots of standing room only. The lakefront isn't an option.

I guess you could put a massive screen right over the main gate and people could sit in their cars "dive in movie" style to watch it but I think you might have just a few safety concerns.

I don't know that an FX would be good...I honestly pay no attention to the Summer Spectacular when I go. Partly because it's the best time to ride rides at night and if I have to hear "Proud to Be an American" (aka, the white trash national anthem) one more time I'm going to vomit :-)

By the way, I AM proud to be an american...I just don't like that song. :-)

But I like the idea of a nice amphitheater. PKI has Timberwolf and I love going there. Plus, Cedar Point could really make some extra money by hosting 3-4 day musical festivals there. But if noise was a concern, they could build it in the parking lot or somewhere else. Or just come up with the business decision that the extra $$ would far outweigh any whining from hotel guests.

How is that the "White Trash National Anthem"? Explain that one.

Let's not be racist! What is your "black trash national anthem" then, hmm?

"**** The Police"

just kidding... ;)

Actually, I agree with Cdubbs. That song, while somewhat moving, has been disgustingly overplayed in the last 49 months. And it wasn't a good song to begin with.

Brandon

That song is a better national anthem than our real one. It is certainly more memorable and easier to sing.

WHAT??!??!??!??!??!??

Maybe you should change your name to ChiefYAhoo!

;)

EDIT: Our National Anthem speaks of our roots... of what our forefathers envisioned for this country. The IDEALS and principles that are associated with that era are just a wee bit more morally just than the commercialized, SUV'ed, super-sized, fat-a**, overpaid, underworked, energy-stealing, war-starting, self-absorbed, self-righteous America we have today.

O Cana----oh wait, wrong one (although I know both).

I actually like our National Anthem, don't know how its not more memorable? Both songs do stir a bit of emotion, and possible "Proud to be an American" more-so because most of us were alive when it was released and remember what its associated with.
I don't think we have anyone left from when the Star Spangled Banner was made our National Anthem, so there isn't that emotional tie to the events it was written around.

djDaemon...it is fairly common knowledge in the music world that the "Star Spangled Banner" is one of the most difficult songs to sing. Witness the continual bashing of it before every sporting event. You remember the good ones (ala Whitney Houston) only because the good ones are so rare.

There has been a "battle" for years about whether our National Anthem should be changed to "God Bless America". Of course, there is the religious implication that gets people worked into a tizzy.

I'm all American (and do happen to enjoy Country Music as well as lots of other stuff) but I do think our anthem is pretty stuffy.

Of course, none of what I just said has to do with an FX show or an amphitheatre.

Where would you put it?

Oh, yeah - the ampitheater... I'd put it in King's Island somewhere. CP has neither the room, nor the reputation to really utilize one. If CP were near a large metropolis, then perhaps they could get big names to stop by and play a night, but it would probably prove difficult to get someone to play at the park, unless they paid top-dollar for it. And then, do the park-goers have to buy tickets or does CP eat the cost? I'd rather have $2 water than Hootie and Suckfish, but thats just me.

There's also not only the issue of annoying the hotel guests, but what about the residents who live just off point? I know in Detroit there are complaints from people who live by both Pine Knob and Freedom Hill about the noise. Then of course there is also the "Where to put it?" problem.
