yesterday's Starlite...oh what a night!

So after a long, stressful & upsetting weekend of a very painful family funeral- I told myself that I would go to CP to "get away" for the day.

After visiting a long lost friend in the afternoon, I arrived at the park last night (Monday) at 5:20'ish and found yet another great parking spot in 13D.

Headed str8 to the Hot Potato for french fries. Hilarious. The young man in front of me (21 or so) had a speech impediment that made his speech sound like "baby talk"- his r's were w's, etc. Anyways, he asked the counter clerk where he could buy saltwater taffy. The Ukrainian girl replied, "We have vinegar..yes!!". He asked again, and she said "Condiments...of course!". I laughed so hard and finally explained to him to go to the front of the park across from the Carousel for his saltwater taffy. He thanked me and left.

I then went to Centennial to watch "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" 's 6pm show. Wow...what a small crowd!! The show itself was just so so. Being a veteran community theater performer and director- I tend to be overly critical at times. Herbe blew me away once again with his fantastic costumes...the guys were VERY vocally strong and I enjoyed the entire 1st half rip off of "Jersey Boys", "but" the girls were all off by at least a 1/2 note rendering them a "li'l pitchy, dawg"...and the athletic choreography was a bit much...but all in all- it was ok.

Headed towards Magnum. The stomach did not feel well and stopped off at the restroom. As I sat in the stall, I noticed a LOT of female voices. OMG...I had mistakenly walked into the Womens restroom!! What to do!! I waited til it sounded very quiet...and DARTED OUT as fast as possible. How embarassing but very, very funny.

Walked through Frontier Town and into Frontier Trail. Wow...like the majority of all the shops and pushcarts were closed!!! Not to mention the fact, that Kamans Art Shoppe sketches were all 1/2 off, and a LOT of specials on merchandise. I noticed several people making comments about that. Basically walked around for the majority of the evening and got in a good work out.

Did a lot of people watching. There was a HUGE crowd from Dearborn High School in Michigan, and also noticed a huge influx of Middle Eastern guests today with full traditional garb of burkhas, turbans, etc. The weather was interesting. It was muggy and humid beyond belief with huge, looming black clouds although it did NOT rain.

Ended up leaving by 8:30pm or so to head downtown to visit friends. Will be back Thursday more than likely.

Have you seen Starlight Experience yet? I would've opted to stay for that.

Sorry about your loss. :(

Starlight Expierience is so great. It is so interesting and a one of a kind. Haha! That would have been embarrasing to go into the girls bathroom. Also i am sorry about the loss. ;(

It's good to get away sometimes, even if it's not as much fun after something like that. The women's bathroom story is pretty funny though. You had a lot on your mind, so it's no wonder you weren't 100% focused on the bathroom signs.

Best wishes and my condolences.

yes it was GREAT to get away..even if just for a few hours. A change of scenery did me good and the lake always calms me.

I've seen Starlight Experience at my previous visit. It reminds me of a low budget "Lights Before Christmas" at the Toledo Zoo.

The weather was odd that day too....VERY muggy and uncomfortable, with black clouds looming over head...but not one single raindrop.

I might go tomorrow depending on the weather, etc. After all, I need Facebook photos outside of "The Weenie Hut" on Rte 250. Ha!!!

Thanks for the condolences.

^ low budget? How much did it cost at the toledo zoo to make? The Starlight Expierience was over one million. I don't think it looks low budget. It also has that awesome soundtrack and the fack snow!

I've been wondering if anyone here has ever gone to the lights at the Toledo Zoo (or the lights at the Columbus Zoo, which are even better than Toledo's) because I sort of had the same impression. Starlight looks good and all, but it pales in comparison to the stuff the zoos put on for Christmas. If you're impressed by Starlight Experience, get to the Toledo or Columbus zoo in December and prepare to be amazed. I'm not sure what the "initial" costs for the zoos were since the events started small and grew over the years, but I'm sure all told both of the zoos I mentioned have spent much more than what CP spent on Starlight.

Talking to one of the techies who was trying to fix a circuit on Sunday afternoon, it sounds like the plan is to keep adding to the layout over a period of several years. This is only the beginning. And IMO, an impressive one.
