2003 Statistics
Top Thrill Dragster: 3
Millennium Force: 13
Wicked Twister: 7
The engine, tires and spoiler complete the theaming of this ride. Without them the trains look too plain. Remember, the trains are supposed to represent Top Fuel Dragsters.
I'm sure everythng will be put back on just as soon as it can be safely done.

2003 CP trips: 1
TTD: 2

Rumors, rumors, rumors. What would we do without them?

"This second hill is my favorite part of the ride. It is so Cool!"
"And that's the way the cookie crumbles"
On the other hand, my four year old daughter got her first scrambler (she calls it the "egg beater") ride, and I got to ride with her, which more than makes up for any missed coaster rides.

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.
The first test with the replacement train was quite fun to watch. It teetered at the top for at least 4 or 5 seconds and then finally made it over.

I have heard also the the tires are gone for good. I hope that's wrong. You can't tell me that there is no way to redesign the engine and tires so they stay on. I just don't want to see all the theming gone after it starts to break down. I understand the liability issue, but I still think after building a 420FT. ride to come back and say we can't keep tires on a train is pretty lame. I would think somehow someway that technology exists....so do it.
There is a way to redesign it. I explained a theory on why that tire fell off and how they can fix them in another topic, which seems to have died down, so I'll repeat it here for those who may have missed it:
Anyone who's been on the ride (or has seen the POV video) knows that there is a LOT of vibration going through the train during the launch. Since they used very heavy tires mounted on a thin axle, chances are the vibrations transfered to the tires, causing them to "wobble" back and fourth, and in the process, "bending" the axle back and fourth over and over where the tire connects to it. Now, when metal is bent over and over in the same spot enough times, it will fatigue, eventually causing it to break, which I surmise is what happened with the axle when the tire fell off. Even if they replace the real tires with lighter fiberglass ones, there's still a chance it could happen, but much later. The only way they can keep this incident from happening again is to mount the tires (or fiberglass ones) on a thicker, tubular axle, or mount them on several "axles" arranged in a circle around the wheel rim. Either solution would prevent the tire from wobbling and causing the connections to fatigue and break off.
Surely they would have to had considered such options before deciding to NEVER put them back on.
