X Flight PKI?

WTF Tim! Would you STOP USING LOGIC. How many times do I have to tell you that you and your fancy "evidence", or lack there-of, are not welcome here.

This is the internet, where baseless speculation rules supreme.

(oh, and for those of you who are new ;))

It was said whether its true or not that X-Flight is supposed to go to Cedar Fair's Michigan's Adventure. So far PKI hasnt said anything about any type of ride coming for '07, so its hard to tell whats going behind Flight Of Fear.

Said by who? Only people I see saying anything is entusiasts. No official announcements have come from Michigan's Adventure or Kings Island.

You will have to ask the one who started the thread about that one. I am a ACE member by the way and know none of us started saying who is getting it. It was said on a coaster site who was getting the coaster. Not sure which site but it was said in a news story.

Well, the official release from the park stated that it would be re-located to another CF park, but that they didn't know which one.

But since it was on a website frequented by ACE members, then it must be going to KI.

The one who started the thread merely said that some work was going on behind FOF and could this possibly mean that X-Flight will be going south. Doesn't mention anything about Michigan's Adventure.

PKI maybe getting x-flight but they are loosing a loop

That sucks. I never got down there to ride it. (not that this will stop me).

Jugga, you didn't miss much. I've never ridden a roller coaster that beat me up as badly as that one. My back hurt for about 3 days after I rode it.

Didn't see that coming. I guess that's better than taking the whole ride out. New trains though and still going to open in the spring? That seems pretty ambitious.

Here I thought one of the most anti-climax adult rides in the park couldn't get any more dull. :(

(No, the drop isn't that great, for a great Kings Island drop ride the back of Vortex...) :P

Summer was made for a Cedar Point day~

I can't say that I'm not surprised... Quite frankly, I'm surprised they're keeping the ride itself.

Son of Beast didn't open up at the start of this year, from retracking. After that it didn't really make it smoother. But wow that picture of the cracked beam is almost shocking, the only smooth part of the ride was the loop. Now thats going away, its going to cost like what they said multi-million project. But I hope they get new trains, for it.

Quote from a Corkscrew ride op, "And Dragster is down again"

I've only gotten to ride it three times, all in 2004. I know everybody else seems to belong to either the too-boring or too-rough camp, but I loved it. I found the ride modestly comfortable (certainly for a 200 + tall woodie, and much more ride-able than much smaller woodies whose names *cough, Villain, Thunderhawk, cough* will not be mentioned.) And for me, it was a very exciting, entertaining ride. I had all three of my rides on a cool summer morning, in the front, middle, and back third of the train. All three times, it was amazing. Guess it's gone downhill since then (pun intended). Getting rid of the inversion really throws me for a loop, however. ;)

This is really surprising to me. Is the loop really the cause of the problems? It doesn't sound like it to me. Surely it would cost less to reinforce trouble areas with the structure than it would to buy new trains, reinforce the structure, and remove and rebuild part of the ride. For me, the part that I remember most about the ride (I rode it in July of the year it opened, think it was 2000) is the loop. It was also the smoothest part of the ride. Really, this seems like it will be more expensive and will change the ride experience for the worst.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Yeah, the loop really isn't the cause, from what I understand.

They tried to reinforce portions of the track and smooth it out last off season, along with shortening the trains. Obviously, that didn't turn out too well. I think the removal of the loop and new trains may very well turn this coaster into a much more pleasent experience.

Coaster Count: 147

Now I regret not making it to PKI recently to ride it in it's looping form. I would have liked to, just once. I understand that this coaster has been nothing but problems, but it suprises me that they're getting rid of the loop. I thought that the loop was the whole point of that coaster, so that it could be a record breaker, like its "dad."

It's always time for a Cedar Point road trip!

Well I'm sad to see the loop go, it was the feature of the ride, but it will be nice to hopefully, maybe see some non-premier trains on the kid. Those trains are horrible and I barely fit in them, and I'm 6'3", 160 lbs. My knees dig right into that grab bar, ouch!! Maybe there is still a chance they won't lose the feature part of the ride, oh well. At least I got to ride it a few times before it it's surgery. My GF at the time last summer didn't get to ride it because it was after his accident. I'll still be sure to ride it when I go next summer, I enjoyed the ride when it was rough as hell.

Well, it looks like someone is no longer a PE.

The de-looping of SOB strengthens the argument for King's Island getting X-Flight. At least CF can advertising the park getting a "new" coaster, while quietly side-stepping the removal of the signature element of one of their star attractions.
